Now you're back at camp. The heat presses down. You change quickly and walk to the pool. The water is cool. Not cold, just right. You sink in up to your shoulders and let out a breath you didn't know you were holding. In front of you, the valley stretches out—gold and green, scattered with baobabs. A herd of elephants moves slowly in the distance, heading toward the river. You can just make out their shapes through the haze.
