The Ol Pejeta Safari Cottages are the newest luxury addition to Kenya’s award-winning Ol Pejeta Conservancy. Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a 20-minute drive from the nearest town, Nanyuki and a 3hr drive from Nairobi.
The four cottages are tucked neatly away along a leafy river line among the towering yellow barked acacia trees in the conservancy’s wilderness area, with access to some of the most private wildlife areas. The safari cottages enjoy uninterrupted views across a peaceful river valley to the plains beyond. Each cottage also comes complete with a private butler and chef catering to guests' needs.

Ekorian's Mugie Camp feels like a tent away from home, and caters to the whole family.
There are 6 tents, 4 regular tents- each can be configured in to a twin or double arrangement and 2 family tents.
Each tent is raised on wooden decks and is en-suite with hot running water and flush toilets.
Laundry is done daily - all laundry is hand washed and dried in the sun
The camp is eco-conscious (and 'silver' eco rated by the Kenya eco-tourism board) and uses solar power (no hair dryers or electric razors). Every effort is made to minimize the use of plastic products. Drinking water is supplied in recycled wine bottles in the tents and reusable water bottles on the game drives. We use recycled glass bottles for drinking glasses made by a local artisan. The soap, shampoo, conditioner, and lotion that we supply are eco-friendly and free of chemicals.
Various activities in camp keep everyone occupied during down-time, such as volleyball, bird watching, traditional archery, spear throwing, and lawn games, as well as our trampoline and fresh water, chemical-free swimming pool.
There are 2 family tents.
Tent 1 is closest to the mess tent so it works well for a family with smaller children. The kids annex on the side has a 3 way bunk bed which the kids love. This tent sleeps a family of 5 with smaller children.
There is one bathroom in the tent.
Tent 6 is the furthest tent from the Mess.
This tent accommodates 4 people. Its good for a family of 4 or older children sleeping together. There is one bathroom in the tent.

Feel the wind in your hair and sun in your face as you bounce through the Mugie plains in our open game drive vehicles. Being able to stand up in the car searching for the lion pride on the hunt highlights the freedom we have of being in a private conservancy.
Mugie is ideally located on the open Laikipia plains hosting the endemic northern spices- Grevy zebra, Jacksons hartebeest, Biesa oryx and reticulated giraffe as well as healthy herds of elephants, buffalo, eland and other plains game. We also get special sightings of the resident male cheetah and passing females.
Early morning game drives are broken up with steaming cups of coffee- also a good time to strech the legs and look for any tracks from the night before which might send you on the next adventure.
Whilst on an evening games its tradition to find the perfect spot for a sundowner- watching the setting sun with a cold drink before heading back to camp with the spot light finding any nocturnal animals creeping out into the night.
Kayaking is a must do signature experience. Getting out of a game drive car and into a kayak gives you the full opportunity to immerse yourself in the Mugie surroundings.
All our Kayaks are user friendly and stable for anyone to be able to enjoy this activity. One can often see game coming to the water during the heat of the day and in the drier seasons we regularly see Elephant also enjoying a good swim. An early morning or late afternoon kayak is very peaceful as you soak in the sights, sounds and smells from water level. Catfish, tilapia and some Black Bass provide enjoyable fishing.
A camel walk to the dam followed by kayaking and picnic lunch on the deck are a great way to spend the morning.
Mugie has great bird life, to date Ekorians bird count is over 200 species with some great migrants passing through in the months of November through to March/April. The massive Mugie dam attracts increasing numbers of waterbirds. Right In the Ekorians Mugie Camp grounds we often see a great variety of birds including four different Owls species.
Enjoy your time in the bush to the very fullest extent with a Bush Breakfast (we recommend arriving to it on a camel!) under the shade of an acacia, or a picnic lunch next to the dam as you see the wildlife coming to drink and cool off in the mid-day heat. Or have sundowners and a picnic dinner, with a drive back to camp to see which of Mugie's nocturnal residents you can see.
A family favourite, get up high with a different view as you roll through the conservancy on the back of a camel. This can be a walk to bush breakfast or picnic lunch or a longer walk through the conservancy. Underneath the grumpy, growly exterior you might be surprised to find the characters that each camel has and how you get to know each other!
Mugie has two bloodhounds, specifically trained for scent tracking and used to track poachers or thieves on Mugie, neighboring ranches, and throughout Kenya. Local heroes, they are amazing dogs to watch work; guests can enjoy a walk with the hounds and demonstration of their skills.
Whilst game viewing is always the main focus on safari, Mugie has so much going that is so important to helping preserving the wonderful wildlife.
A visit to the cattle dipping being held on a Saturday, or the farm which hosts the dairy herd, chickens, fruit and vegetable gardens and bee apiary. Or even a peak at the work shop, livestock, security, community offices will give you an insight to what it take to preserve these special places.
Visits to the nearby markets on market day, or Samburu or Pokot villages, will give insight to the traditional ways of life here. Meet the ladies behind the incredible beads work that you see ad understand their passion and stories behind what they do.
Meet the children and future of Mugie at a visit with school, you can even join them in a game of football which is always a highlight for the children.
You can also pass by the Mugie nurse and let her tell you about her clinic and mobile outreaches which takes much needed health care and health education to the neighbouring communities. And other projects that contribute a health community, and conservancy.
Mugie Ranch is home to Kenya’s northern-most golf course – set amongst African Olive Trees, a beautifully designed and landscaped course challenges even the experienced golfer. Whether playing a round or simply having a picnic here and enjoying the sweeping view, a visit is always worthwhile. The course is fenced from wildlife so guests can enjoy a walk or a jog around the grounds, and children can play freely. Included in the Green Fee is a golf club and ball rental, though you are welcome to bring your own.
