Baobab Ridge Private Lodge | Klaserie Private Game Reserve
Baobab Ridge Lodge is a private lodge situated in the prestigious Klaserie Private Nature Reserve. It provides spacious yet affordable air-conditioned individual private suites with an open plan lounge and private terrace, offering guests beautiful bush-veld landscapes with an excellent possibility of coming face to face with the "Big 5" and bird species in their natural habitat.
This lodge is fully catered and can also be booked exclusively for up to 16 guests (ideal for groups seeking complete privacy and no age limits).
The Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, one of the largest private reserves in South Africa (approximately 62 000 hectares) is part of the Greater Kruger National Park and open to the Kruger National Park and Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. The private game reserve lies along the western border of the Kruger, with no fencing separating the reserve from the Kruger or the Timbavati; allowing the animals to roam freely between the private game reserves and the Kruger Park. The game in both the Kruger and the neighbouring reserves is essentially the same, the only difference to the Kruger being the experience of driving off-road in open game viewers with professional guides. The less known Klaserie Reserve also has fewer lodges, which means far less traffic on game drives and sightings.

The Fig Tree Restaurant
Situated in the main Opstal area, De Hoop Collection’s Fig Tree Restaurant offers day and overnight visitors a welcoming and comfortable setting in which to enjoy local culinary creations. The building that used to be a shed that was used by the farmer and later by the maintenance team of De Hoop Collection, has been renovated to a beautiful space with stunning views of the De Hoop Vlei. The expansive penthouse suite is located on the top floor of Hermanus Boutique Guest House and offers a bird’s-eye view of the Walker Bay coastline. The suite epitomises stylish loft style living and is ideal for honeymooners and guests wanting to stay a little longer. An indulgent king size bed flows out towards the wrap-around balcony, giving rise to unparalleled ocean views. Honeymooners can watch whales breaching in the bay from the comfort of their bed! An open-plan bathroom blends in seamlessly with the spacious penthouse, and is kitted out with a steam shower and jet bath. A naked brick wall adorned with beach-inspired abstract art serves as the backdrop to a kitchen nook and dining table. Spilling out from the kitchen is the lounge area, furnished with velvet softs and ochre colour couches.

The two honeymoon suites are designed specifically for loved-up honeymooners seeking a cocoon of comfort in a romantic setting. Newlyweds can expect to fall asleep to the sound of the sea while enjoying stellar sea views from the glorious king size bed. One of the honeymoon suites is located on the upper level, while the other is slightly more spacious. From opulent spa baths to open plan bathrooms and glass showers with a view, the honeymoon suite certainly focuses on taking advantage of the seascapes from all angles of the room. Even the decor is a reflection of the tranquil colours of the natural environment. If the brazen colours from the sunset aren’t romantic enough, the team at the guest house pull out all the stops for your honeymoon. Expect plenty of extra welcoming touches!

The newly renovated luxury rooms offer a sublime sanctuary for purveyors of the finer things in life. There are four rooms in total, each with sublime sea views of Walker Bay. Two of the rooms are on the first floor and come complete with small balconies with seating. The other two rooms are on the ground floor and are slightly larger, and have an intimate garden area. Furnished in typical French country cottage pieces with crisp white linen adorning the beds, and ornate designs carved into wood provides a simple and classic atmosphere. Crushed velvet scatters and matching lampshades bring through a sense of playfulness to the luxury rooms.

There are seven open-plan pool rooms in total, each decorated in a similar style. The rooms offer a surprising sense of playfulness with their outdoor rain showers and jetted spa baths. Each room has a muted decor palette with uniquely upholstered chairs and scatters. The rooms keep true to the guest house’s effortless French inspired interiors with their classic pieces and chic atmosphere. The pool rooms are all separate from the guest house in a block overlooking the pool, offering a sense of seclusion from the main guest house. Adjoining the rooms is a breakaway lounge area frequently used for meetings, small conferences or celebratory events. Most people book out the pool rooms for events or company sessions and use the room for meetings.

The standard deluxe rooms sit comfortably in the central area of the guest house, and offer an elegant space for both couples and families. Imbued throughout the neutral-palette rooms are accents of the guest house’s iconic sunshine yellow and coastal blues. Classic chairs provide an extra seating space and place to relax with a book, while the small lounge nook is just perfect to while away the time. Mirroring the luxurious and plush designs of the other rooms and suites, the standard deluxe rooms offer similar amenities but don’t have a sea view. Two of the rooms have a sofa bed in the lounge area which can sleep child over the age of eight.

Tucked away in the corner of the Hermanus Guest House, on the second level, is the sizeable family suite. Comprising two separate bedrooms sharing an en suite bathroom, the family suite is ideal for families with older children or teenagers. The individual rooms are tastefully decorated ensuring finishes and furnishings reflect the understated luxury evident throughout all areas of Hermanus Guest House. Large yellow scatters dotted with hedgehogs provide a sense of frivolity to one of the rooms, making it cosy and inviting for families. A small shared balcony serves as a delightful meeting point between the two rooms, an idyllic cove to catch-up over coffee.
