The garden suites are suitable for single or double occupancy.

Each suite has a comfortable and spacious lounge with a fireplace and private patiooverlooking the gardens and the plains around the lodge, a bedroom and an en suite bathroom equipped with a shower and bath.

The suites have king-size beds, Egyptian cotton bed linen, bathrobes, a mini bar with espresso machine, coffee and tea making facilities, a hairdryer, a safe and ceiling fans. They all have a private entrance leading into the garden and pool area.

Our lodge rooms are designed to accommodate one or two guests. They consist of a spacious bedroom and a modern bathroom with shower and/or bath.

Iketla Lodge is nestled in a 540 hectare private nature conservancy on the Panorama Route, approximately 30 minutes’ drive from the Blyde River Canyon. The lodge is surrounded by mountains, valleys and cliffs.  A central thatched area houses the lounge, dining area and bar and has beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.  An open sundeck overlooks the pool.

Baleni is an environment where nature, economy and spiritualism have a rich integration. With an economy strongly dependent on traditional salt-mining, visiting Baleni allows the responsible traveller the opportunity to see how modern people integrate ancient traditions and techniques into their 21st century lives.

Baleni Camp is situated near the banks of the Klein Letaba River, on land belonging to the Mahumani Traditional Authority. Staff from Baleni can take guests for a walk down to a geo-thermal hot spring – the only undeveloped hot spring in Southern Africa. Maintaining a water temperature of around 42 degrees, this spring is a sacred site for the local Tsonga community. Your guide will explain the spiritual significance of the spring, and educate you in the expected terminologies and behaviour for visitors.

During the winter months guests can watch local ladies making salt from the crystals that are deposited from the Soutini spring. This is an ancient skill and of important economic value to the people of the area. (Salt-making demonstrations can be arranged for a fee at any time of the year – please pre-book.) In addition, with prior arrangement, guests can do a trip into the local village to meet crafters and residents of the area. An additional optional activity (prior arrangement required) is dancing by the vibrant Mbhombhela Dancing Group who not only entertain, but will also spend time teaching you to dance with a Xibelani skirt. If you’ve enjoyed the vibe, you can even buy the traditional beads and clothing the dancers wear.

Baleni is a place to experience – not just observe! Baleni Cultural Camp has 5 stand-alone thatched rondavels, each with two ¾ beds, chairs and a bedside stand. Ablutions are communal, with flush toilets, shower and basins. There is no electricity, and paraffin or solar lanterns are provided for light at night. If planning to braai or make a fire, don’t forget to bring firewood. While it is safe to drink, some people don’t like the taste of the local water, so you are advised to bring your own bottled drinking water. This is a low-risk malaria area. Precautions are advised. The main attraction at Baleni is the salt harvesters. These ladies make salt by hand in an ancient tradition that is economically important to the region. Visitors are given a demonstration on the techniques at each stage of the process and are invited to participate. The camp guides provide interpretation.

The camp guides take you down to visit their sacred springs and explain to you the significance of them. After washing away your bad luck you can visit Ka Mukhulu, another important geographical location

Like most of Limpopo, Baleni has a wide range of birds which you can view at your leisure

There are plenty of walks and hikes to do in and around Baleni. You are also welcome to take your bicycle for a spin, although there are no officially demarcated tracks.

This unique lodge is located in Pafuri in the far north of the Kruger National Park. It is here, on the ancestral land of the Makuleke people, that the owners of this lodge have built a unique partnership and a collection of superb safari experiences. The business is rooted in more than two decades of friendship with the Makulekes, who lost their home under apartheid but who have now returned as landlords, business partners and  guides.

The concession lies in a vast triangle between the Limpopo and Luvuvhu rivers along South Africa’s northeastern frontier. Between them, the two great valleys embrace one of Africa’s most spectacular landscapes with mountains and gorges in the west giving way to plains, pans, baobabs and fever tree forests in the east. The land, particularly the low-lying floodplains near the confluence at Crooks’ Corner where the camps are located, harbours an abundance of life.

Huge herds of elephant, buffalo and other game congregate here, especially when the surrounding bush lies parched before the rains. Predators and scavengers, ranging from the great cats and hyenas to servals, genets, civets, caracals, amongst many others, find shelter here. The wildlife roams without the hindrance of borders in a transfrontier park that spans three countries. This diversity also brings a profusion of birds, with numerous specials in what pundits regard as South Africa’s most rewarding birding destination. (ITT)

Baobab Hill Bush House

Perched on a secluded, baobab-studded ridge just north of the Luvuvhu, Baobab Hill House was once the Pafuri ranger's station. This rustic homestead offers ideal accommodation for families or friends seeking privacy and comfort in the bush.

It consists of four bedrooms and sleeps up to eight people, with a home kitchen, open plane dining room and lounge, swimming pool, and "Out of Africa" verandah, perfect for sundowners or dinners in the early evenings. Safari vehicles meander into the bush twice a day, bringing visitors into close contact with an Africa that is largely known only in wildlife documentaries and glossy books. But this Africa is real, and distinctly tangible through all six senses. (ITT)

There are a wide variety of landscapes, vegetation types and eco-systems on Mashatu which should be all experienced first-hand. Walking Mashatu offers the wilderness lover, the bird watcher, the keen botanist, the intrepid hiker and the nature enthusiast the ultimate experience whilst walking in the Land of Giants.

The Mashatu Walking Safari can be enjoyed as an ad-hoc activity from Mashatu Lodge or Tent Camp, or as an overnight multi-day adventure.

Adhoc Walking Safari: The perfect opportunity to combine exercise with focusing on the smaller and no less interesting creatures of Mashatu, most often missed when out in a vehicle on safari. Although many opportunities arise to view big game, the focus is on the little, often overlooked aspects of the bush - tracks, plants, insects, etc. A walker is part of the environment and not merely a spectator. There is no better place to enjoy a walking safari than in The Land of the Giants. This diverse and mammoth piece of Africa is the perfect place to witness the intricacies of the wild animals of Africa, to learn about the hidden secrets of nature, to find the smaller creatures hidden in their bush homes and to see how the eco-system involves the inter-relatedness of species.

Multi-day Adventure: Tailor-made walking safaris suit the disposition of the clients on safari. Distances covered per day depend on the ability and preference of the guests. There is no limit on the number of nights spent on the walking safari. It is however suggested that at least three nights are booked. Guests camp out in one of three camps specifically designed for comfort in the bush. Luggage is transported by vehicle between camps to give guest the opportunity to have full enjoyment of the walk, without having to carry any luggage.

A walking safari means coming closer to the roar of the lion, the howl of the hyena, the cry of the jackal and the whistle of the pearl-spotted owl during starry nights around the campfire. A walking safari compliments the magnificence of a sunrise, a full moon and sightings simply not possible from a vehicle or the comforts of a lodge. (ITT)

Limpopo Valley Horse Safaris is honoured with the reputation of having the finest schooled horses on the African continent. Surrounded by a multitude of Africa's flora and fauna, come and explore this breath-taking terrain from horseback, in the company of experienced African equestrian hosts who have extensive knowledge and experience of the bush. There is nothing more exhilarating than galloping on horseback alongside herds of antelope, over the wild open plains of Mashatu, kicking dust into the sunset sky.

The Mashatu Horse Safari can be enjoyed as an ad-hoc activity from Mashatu Lodge or Tent Camp, or as an overnight multi-day adventure.

Please note that only competent and regular horse riders should consider this activity as the concessionaire will, in the interests of safety, test the skills and ability of the horse riders. The experienced staff will terminate the reservation if the guest is not skilled enough to ride through wild country where dangerous animals roam. (ITT)

This concession on Mashatu comprises a resident wildlife photographer, based at Mashatu Lodge and photographic hides in two selected sites plus a mobile hide on the reserve. Guests at Mashatu can enlist the photographic expertise of the photographer or simply visit one of the hides during their stay which will be charged as an additional activity over and above the daily rates for accommodation.

The photographic hide is a structure built to maximise the photographic potential of the animals that visit them. The hide can be used to view wildlife in the normal manner, but have been positioned with consideration of the angle of the sun, the background and the angle which the viewer occupies in relation to the animals and birds.

The most famous of these hides is the 'elephant hide', renowned for the photographic images taken of elephant and other animals drinking from the water's edge. The PhotoMashatu hide offers both the amateur or professional photographer the most unique and delightful opportunities to record a memorable safari at Mashatu. (ITT)

The more adventurous may join a mountain bike safari in the company of an armed and highly experienced guide. On a bike, the cyclist is, in effect, conducting his/her own safari and gets to enjoy the reserve and its inhabitants from a completely different perspective. The groups of cyclists meander along ancient elephant paths. The exhilaration of cycling amongst the ‘Giants of Mashatu’ is awesome, and should be enjoyed at least once on a safari for anyone with a little interest in cycling. Rides are generally enjoyed early morning.

Guests can also book a 'camp wild' cycling experience comprising up to three days on a cycling safari. These safaris depart in the winter months where Cycle Mashatu offers a 3 night guided mountain biking adventure. Enjoy riding elephant manicured game paths, sleeping under the starlit skies and exploring the ancient Land of the Giants. Cycle Mashatu tailors the tours to suit the group's fitness and strength and provides vehicle support, meals, and camp amenities. Many would argue that you have not lived until you have cycled in the Land of the Giants - a thrilling experience indeed. (ITT)

Night under the Stars offers a one-of-a-kind experience, with uniquely designed tents positioned in surprise locations, making you one with the surrounding wildlife of Mashatu. Enjoy fireside chats with fellow nature lovers, hear the laughs of hyena passing by, and gaze up at the twinkly night sky from the comfort of your tent. Romantic, intimate, and indescribable.

This is booked as an additional activity and is offered throughout the year. The rate is for max 6 pax. No children under 12 years permitted. Children aged 12 to 18 must be accompanied by a parent. Guests will depart the lodge they are booked at after dinner (approximately 9pm), with an overnight bag. They will be taken on a night drive to explore the nocturnal activities happening in the reserve (approximately 2hrs). The night drive will end at the WalkMashatu Fly Camp, where they may participate in night photography, a night walk and/or fireside stories with drinks and snacks, before sleeping under the stars. The next morning, guests will have a light early morning breakfast before departing on morning game drive at around 6am and then back to camp, or back to camp first and then game drive.

Tent Camp Boma

Meals are a sumptuous celebration of traditional African Cuisine - flavoursome and homely. Fresh fruits, vegetables, home-made breads and pies, succulent meat dishes and delicious desserts will appeal to a guest who appreciates informal cuisine at its best.

Morning pre-game drive snacks, brunch and high tea are served on the shaded terrace.

Dinners are served around a blazing fire in the reed-enclosed boma (African structure), exposing diners to the glorious night sky above. (ITT)

Found in the Limpopo Province of South Africa, this unique wilderness area with its diversity of habitat on top of the Soutpansberg and its privacy, which is fondly called the Sigurwana Wilderness is connected with Tolo Wilderness - giving access to the southern side of the mountain and a different habitat. These two wilderness areas are true botanical paradises: there are more than 320 different species of tree, including an ancient yellowood forest, as well as rare cycads, attracting Samango monkeys, baboons, bush pig, crowned eagle, and rare birds; sable, eland, kudu, leopard, caracal, porcupine and lots of indigenous game. Bush Chalets Luxury Safari Tent Standard Suite - Ystervark

Madi a Thavha, meaning “water from the mountains”, is set in a beautiful and quiet valley of the Soutpansberg Mountains of Northern Limpopo, only 10 km drive from the centre of Louis Trichardt (Makhado).

At Madi a Thavha you find everything that the area has to offer: an exhibition of the art and crafts of the Venda and Tsonga artists, numerous bird species, walking routes, and the workshop of Madi a Thavha Design. The lodge is an excellent base to spend a few days to explore the Venda and Tsonga culture, myths and legends and to discover unspoiled nature of the Soutpansberg and Limpopo valley.  From the lodge you can enjoy a variety of great outdoor activities, including hiking.

Madi a Thavha is an ideal stop-over when travelling to the Kruger National Park, Mapungubwe or the bush camps in the Tuli Block in Botswana. (ITT)
