Carlisle Bay is a luxury resort looking out over white sand; palm trees and turquoise water, with a backdrop of emerald green rain-forest. Sophisticated and contemporary in style, the resort is made up of 82 suites, all with ocean views. By day, every room is filled with sunshine from sea-facing, floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto private terraces. Many rooms lead directly onto the beach. Others have a lawn and far-reaching ocean views, but all have ocean views and cool calm interiors. Guests can enjoy tennis, the large gym, a long list of water sports and classes (yoga in the tropical gardens is popular), while those looking to unwind can chill out in the hip library or spa. Carlisle Bay excels at looking after families of all ages with a highly acclaimed kid’s club.
All suites open onto private balconies or terraces, with many leading directly on to the beach. Other suites are surrounded by tropical gardens and all enjoy ocean views.
Restaurants and Bars
With four fabulous restaurants and four relaxing bars and lounges to choose from, the resort offers wining and dining options to suit every mood & occasion. Under the direction of Chef Lisa Sellers, Carlisle Bay cuisine is renowned across the island for its home grown tastes as well as flavours from around the world.
Restaurant East - One of Antigua’s finest restaurants. Open for dinner only, East takes its name from the exciting mix of eclectic Asian dishes served in a striking designer setting.
Ottimo! - Casual Italian restaurant at the poolside serving classic Italian dishes and featuring a wood burning pizza oven. Open for lunch and dinner with a Little Ottimo! menu that is suitable for children.
Indigo on the Beach – A magnificent open air dining pavilion at the heart of the resort, diners will enjoy the gentle sea breeze and sweeping ocean views. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, Indigo is noted for its fresh local produce, grilled seafood, home-made breads and pastas and weekly Caribbean beach barbecues.
Jetty Grill - the resort’s adult-only restaurant is right at the water’s edge overlooking the Jetty and the Caribbean Sea. Freshly caught seafood, grills and wines by the carafe are favourites. Open for lunch daily.
Bars
Indigo Bar - An open-sided bar beside the beach with rattan chairs and sofas, where guests gather at any hour for cocktails, fruit punches and refreshing drinks.
Jetty Bar – A fun, toes-in-the-sand beach bar right beside the Jetty. Fresh coconut, beers and rum punches served around the fire pit as the sun sets across the bay.
Coconut Grove - Next to Indigo on the Beach, it’s the ideal spot under the palm trees for a relaxed barefoot lunch, afternoon tea or cocktails at sunset.
Pavilion Bar – An elegant lobby pavilion with traditional wooden shutters, opening to the sounds and scents of the tropical environment. Sip a thirst-quenching fruit punch when the sun is high or listen to piano or jazz music over a cocktail before dinner.
Health Club and Spa
Carlisle Bay provides the most idyllic surroundings in which to switch off and unwind. Nestled in the heart of the resort’s lush gardens is the Blue Spa, a tranquil retreat with 6 treatment rooms including a luxurious massage room for couples, sauna, plunge pools, hair salon, juice bar with chill-out zone and treatments from Spanish skincare brand Natura Bisse.
Health Club facilities include a state-of-the-art gym with a team of personal trainers on request and a separate Yoga Pavilion located in the tranquillity of the tropical gardens. Group Yoga and Pilates sessions are offered with the first class provided complimentary. Sunset classes on the Jetty are also available.
Sports and Adventure
A wide variety of water sports are available in and around Carlisle Bay. Complimentary sailing, kayaking, snorkelling, windsurfing and paddle boarding are popular with a team of expert staff on hand to show the way. Motorised activities like water skiing, wake boarding and tubing take place in a neighbouring cove to preserve the tranquillity of the resort bay.
Yachting and sailing holidays are among Antigua’s main attractions. Learn to sail, or improve your skills, on a Royal Yachting Association course or take a boat charter to explore some of Antigua’s 365 beaches and historic harbours.
PADI Open-Water four-day certification courses are available, as well as Discover Scuba one-day courses to give beginners a taste of the experience. All the pool training is conducted at Carlisle Bay.
Carlisle Bay also offers the PADI Bubblemaker program introducing children aged 8 years and above to scuba diving, to a maximum depth of 2 metres.
The resort has 9 private tennis courts including 4 which are floodlit for cooler play in the evenings. Professional instruction is available at all levels and complimentary tennis clinics.
Family Fun
With Antigua’s perfect year round weather and some 365 beaches to explore, Carlisle Bay is a favourite for family holidays and offers a variety of supervised children’s programs packed full of fun.
Cool Kids Club - the resort’s purpose built club house just for kids. Set in the shaded gardens next to the family friendly Beach Suites the club is fully equipped with a jungle gym, sandpit, paddling pool and mini tennis courts. Open to children aged from 6 months to 6 years old – rate of $15 per hour apply to children under 2 years; complimentary for children aged 2 – 6 years old.
Crew Blue - complimentary sporting and adventure for pre-teens aged between 7 to 12 years, operating during selected school holiday periods. Please enquire directly with the hotel or the dedicated sales representatives for calendar dates.
- Rooms
Garden Suites are large split-level rooms in an open plan bedroom and sitting room layout overlooking the tropical gardens with partial views of the azure blue ocean. Garden Suites sleep up to 3 persons and two pairs of suites are interconnecting.
Ocean Suites are located at the quieter end of the beach and perfect for guests in search of peace and serenity. Split level with open plan bedroom and sitting room and exceptional sea views. Ocean Suites sleep up to 3 persons, not including children under 12 years. Four pairs of Ocean Suites can connect.
Beach Suites feature a king size bed and sitting area with a separate study or second bedroom. Beach Balcony Suites (upper level) sleep up to 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children aged between 6 and 12 years old. Beach Terrace Suites (ground floor) sleep 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 children up to the age of 12 years old.
Carlisle Suites are the largest suites at the resort, perfect for 6 guests staying together. Each suite features 3 bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms, a spacious sitting and dining area and large private terraces just steps from the beach and the ocean.
Bay Suites are romantic ocean fronted suites specifically designed for couples. Spacious and understated, these sensational adult only retreats feature private butler service, Caribbean rum & vodka bar and Temple Spa luxury bath amenities. The 6 suites are located adjacent to the Jetty in a tranquil, secluded hideaway.
