6-nights Winelands & Whale Coast Glamping Adventure

AfriCamps at Pat Busch | Breede River Valley

Attention all nature lovers: AfriCamps at Pat Busch is situated in Pat Busch Mountain Reserve just outside Robertson. 2000 Hectares of spectacular mountain fynbos with streams, mountain dams, birdlife and various animals such as bucks, fallow deer, Nguni cows and even a very shy leopard. The reserve is also home to a rare Protea Flower that was thought extinct for almost 50 years and is now under protection of Cape Nature. Our glamping tents are tucked away in the Cape fynbos and look out over a folded green valley with the Langeberg as a gorgeous backdrop. In July 2019 we are opening five new tents, to have 10 tents on the property. We invite you to escape the hustle and bustle and come and explore this hidden valley together with your dearest friends and family. The possibilities on the property are endless and include several walking trails, good bird watching, fishing for bass and swimming and paddling in the farm dam.  The sparkling nine-meter swimming pool, fringed by a rolling green lawn is also a welcomed addition at which to chill in the summer blaze.

The reserve forms part of the Klaasvoogds West foothills in the Langeberg Mountain between the towns of Robertson & Montagu. With over 160 years of history, Robertson has grown into one of the most attractive Cape Winelands towns, with Victorian buildings, jacaranda-lined streets and vineyards banked with beautiful roses. The Robertson Valley forms part of the Route 62, the longest wine route in the world and famous for its many wine festivals. There are also a big variety of attractions, activities and culinary delights on offer. Visit the Rialheim, a ceramic factory, where you can view and buy unique and fun handcrafted ceramic homeware. Take winetasting to a whole different level by taking the Viljoensdrift River Cruise including a gourmet picnic on the tranquil waters of the Breede River. Or meander your way up the Langeberg Mountain with the Montagu Tractor Trip and enjoy your traditional Potjiekos at an altitude of 1500m above sea level. Round off your day with a soothing massage at Rosendal Wellness Centre while gazing at the beauty of the vineyards.

Robertson is only a 2 hour drive from Cape Town and known as the western gateway to the Route 62 with easy access to exciting villages such as Montagu, McGregor and Bonnievale. Montagu, a beautiful Klein Karoo town, is famous for its hot springs as well as the many farm stalls and markets that offer exceptional food, wines & coffee. McGregor is a unique and alternative village away from the crowds where you can literally step back in time. The McGregor village is home to a vibrant community of artists and there are top-class galleries for you to explore. Also Bonnievale, well known for its cheese factories, is definately worth a visit.

AfriCamps at Doolhof | Wellington

Experience the first glamping location in the Cape Winelands! Located beneath the historic Bainskloof Pass at the foothills of the Groenberg Mountain Range, AfriCamps at Doolhof is set within the award-winning Doolhof Wine Estate, a short drive from the picturesque town of Wellington and only 50 minutes from Cape Town.

Our 6 AfriCamps luxury glamping tents are surrounded by vineyards, the Kromme River that runs through the farm and glorious mountain views – best enjoyed while soaking in your outdoor wood-fired hot tub.

On Doolhof, two white varietals, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay and a substantial number of reds are grown. They include Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec, Merlot, Pinotage and Shiraz. The white varietals are planted on the eastern slopes of the Groenberg, which allow the grapes cooler days and less direct sunlight. A visit to the estate’s tasting room is a must.

Activities on the estate include a 5km vineyard hike, the river walk that leads you all along the Kromme River, mountain bike trails that start on the property, a kids mountain bike trail, the gorgeous wine tasting room where you can try some of the estate’s award-winning wines along with a platter or lunch and, of course, the outdoor wood-fired hot tub next to your tent. You can also enjoy a selection of spa treatments from the comfort and privacy of your own tent. Off the property, explore the surrounding area’s popular mountain bike trails, hiking trails and fly-fishing in the Limietberg Nature Reserve, horse riding, touring between various Wellington wine farms and distilleries and world-class golf courses.

AfriCamps at Stanford Hills | Whale Coast

Come indulge in delicious local food and wine at AfriCamps at Stanford Hills. This camp is set on a boutique wine farm in Stanford, an exciting slow food destination with chefs serving an array of fresh and locally produced food. We have 5 glamping tents situated on the foothill of the Klein River Mountain range overlooking a dam and the Stanford Valley. This foodie delight is only a fifteen-minute drive from Hermanus and can be reached from Cape Town in two hours.

Stanford Hills Estate is fast becoming one of the area’s most popular attractions. Aside from offering tastings and sales of their award-winning range of wines, there are a variety of other activities and attractions. The restaurant, The Tasting Room, is set above a dam with endless views over the Stanford Valley. The restaurant has a reputation for laid back fun, with the emphasis on fresh and inventive food of an exceptionally high standard. The chalkboard menu changes daily according to what is locally fresh and available, including items from their own vegetable garden. The farm also produces Proteas and Pincushions, which are endemic to South Africa, so from August through November the farm is filled with these colourful blooms. The farm offers horse-riding, hiking and even whale-watching by air in a small airplane which takes off from the farm’s private landing strip. You can also have a swim in a farm dam, try your hand at fishing, or simply lie in bed and listen to the birds.

The charming town of Stanford is overlooked by the Klein River Mountains. It is famous for its award winning eateries and has an eclectic mix of art galleries, breweries and wine farms, all with fantastic views of this valley area. Stanford is in close proximity to Hermanus, considered as one best whale
