African Bush Camps Thorntree River Lodge | Victoria Falls (Zambia)
Thorntree River Lodge is set in Zambia’s Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, just a short distance from the Victoria Falls. It is a modern contemporary design with tented roof structures to maintain the feel of authentic Africa. The lodge has 12 twin rooms with 2 sets of interleading units. The main lodge consists of a lounge with an open dining area, where fine dining experiences of African cuisine will come to life. A gym and spa overlook the Zambezi River, and there is a small library with WIFI for guests’ convenience. The communal deck is set on the edge of the riverside, and is home to a sunken boma area and an infinity pool. Wooden decking floats on the edge of the river, and moves with the water level to create the illusion of sailing a boat, and help to achieve a seamless feel between river and land. (ITT)

Perching on the river edge are the twelve luxurious suites, four of which can be used as family suites with interleading walkways. Each suite boasts gorgeous indoor bathrooms including an additional outdoor shower, an intimate lounge area that sprawls out onto a private decking and a plunge pool. Designed to showcase the incredible river panoramas, the suites’ sliding glass panel walls and high-pitched canvas roofs exude a delightful sense of space, whilst the communal area compliments the lodge’s enviable setting.Each unit will have its own indoor and outdoor bathrooms, as well as a luxurious private plunge pool.

The largest and oldest museum in Zambia, the Livingstone Museum celebrates the local history as well as the adventures of David Livingstone. The Museum is divided into five sections covering archaeology, history, ethnography, natural history and art, and is highlighted by Tonga ritual artefacts, a life-sized model African village, a collection of David Livingstone memorabilia and historic maps dating back to 1690. Baines River Camp can accommodate 20 people in 8 Explorer Suites and a Family Suite. Each luxurious, freestanding suite offers an atmosphere of elegance and privacy, boasting spectacular views over the Zambezi River. Your best chance to see and photograph predators, large herds of buffalo etc. is on a game drive in an open viewing vehicle.

River cruises make for relaxed game viewing, photography and bird watching. You will be entertained by baboons, hippo, elephant, crocodiles,water buck and the occasional buffalo on the river bank and the Zambezi’s various islands.
