At Gomoti River Lodge , daily safari activities are thoughtfully designed to accommodate a variety of interests and energy levels, ensuring an enriching and immersive experience for every guest. The core of each day revolves around morning and afternoon game drives within the exclusive NG35 concession—a private wilderness area renowned for its exceptional biodiversity and classic Okavango Delta scenery. Regular stops are made for comfort and explanations , along with a stop for drinks and snacks

This concession boasts a rich mosaic of vegetation zones, ranging from open grasslands and mopane woodlands to seasonal floodplains and riverine forests. It is within this ecological variety that extraordinary wildlife encounters unfold, from large herds of elephants and buffalo to predators such as lions, leopards, and wild dogs.

Game drives are carefully timed to align with the natural rhythms of the bush, departing in the early morning and late afternoon when wildlife is most active. These optimal hours offer not only cooler temperatures and softer light but also a greater chance of witnessing animals in motion—whether it’s predators on the hunt or herbivores gathering at waterholes.

A firm guest favourite, the Full-Day Moremi Game Reserve Experience offers an immersive journey into one of Botswana’s most iconic and wildlife-rich protected areas. This extended safari explores the southern reaches of Moremi, including the renowned Black Pools region and, conditions permitting, ventures as far as 3rd Bridge. This area is exceptionally productive for wildlife viewing, known for its diversity and density of game across varied habitats. Guests enjoy a relaxed picnic breakfast en route, followed by a scenic picnic lunch set in a pristine wilderness location—an experience that perfectly captures the spirit of safari. It’s an unforgettable day, blending exploration, adventure, and the unmatched beauty of Botswana’s wilderness.

Boating on the permanent, deep waters of the Okavango Delta is undoubtedly one of the most memorable safari experiences one can have. We board our boats and glide through narrow reed-lined channels, where anticipation builds with every passing moment. Suddenly, the waterways open up, revealing the majestic Xakanaxa Lagoon — one of the largest and most breathtaking lagoons in the entire Okavango Delta.

Heading northwards, the landscape unfolds in quiet splendour. The mirrored reflections of papyrus and clouds dance on the water's surface, punctuated by the gentle splash of the boat and the occasional call of an African fish eagle. Water lilies float delicately along our path, and small palm-fringed islands appear like mirages — often home to red lechwe, browsing elephants, hippos wallowing in the shallows, and the occasional crocodile basking on the banks.

Birdlife abounds here — kingfishers dart between the reeds, herons and storks patrol the edges, and jacanas step lightly across the lily pads. It is a scene of serenity and raw natural beauty, an experience that stirs the soul and lingers in memory long after the journey ends.

Traditionally crafted from wood, modern fiberglass mokoros preserve the distinctive shape and silent glide of their wooden predecessors, ensuring minimal environmental impact. Our journey includes a meaningful stop at Shorobe Village, renowned for its vibrant women's cooperative, where skilled artisans craft exquisite woven baskets using age-old traditional techniques passed down through generations. This is a wonderful opportunity to admire their craftsmanship — and perhaps take home a beautiful, authentic keepsake.

While in the village, your guide — a proud local from the region — will share insights into rural life in the Okavango Delta, offering a personal perspective on the traditions, challenges, and rhythms of daily life in this unique part of Botswana. This visit is not just about sightseeing; it's a chance to connect, learn, and engage with the culture in a respectful and enriching way.
