Lion Sands Ivory Lodge is situated in the Lion Sands Game Reserve – one of Africa’s truly unspoiled wilderness areas, where the private Sabi Sand Game Reserve meets the world-renowned Kruger National Park. Ivory Lodge is for those in search of utter exclusivity. Just nine water-side Villas meld into a riverscape that sees the passage of much of the reserve’s wildlife. From your bed, deck, private plunge pool, or indeed the guest spa, this is one of the best places to look in on Africa – uninterrupted.

Each suite sleeps two adults and is a peaceful refuge – with its own plunge pool and relaxation areas, including a dining/lounge area, furnished patio and viewing deck. A guest spa and fitness area is set away from the main lodge and Suites.
Between a knot of jackalberry trees on the banks of the Sabie, this beautiful two-bedroom Residence offers the ultimate in private luxury and personalised service. Designed with the discerning traveller in mind, everything is included – from your own pool and spa, to personal chef, field guide and game viewer vehicle – for a tailor-made South African safari. You and your family, or friends would be hard-pressed to find a more idyllic spot to base yourselves.
Fish Eagle Villa (two bedrooms)
Two en-suite bedrooms can sleep four adults and another two children, each on an extra single bed in their parents' rooms. All areas have been carefully designed to bring people together, or to give those wanting privacy their own generous space. An open-plan living room (including kitchen, dining and lounge area) leads out to the patio, firepit, viewing deck, lap pool, and star jetty. Downstairs, away from the shared spaces, you'll find a personal spa/gym.

Game drives, in open safari vehicles, head out at sunrise and again in the late afternoon. The reserve’s natural animal populations include all of the Big Five, and it is renowned for the quality of its leopard sightings – the most elusive of predators. With no more than 16 vehicles allowed on the reserve at any one time, Lions Sands assures you a truly personal safari, and the field guides are able to take you within close range of Africa’s most impressive species. Photo opportunities are spectacular! Also included is a hot beverage/sundowner stop to purely appreciate being in the bush and in the moment.
For those who wish to experience the bush, not just observe it, there is no better guided excursion. Feel the scrub crunch beneath your feet, touch a velvety acacia seed pod, hear the crack of a branch indicating you are not alone, and spot the game appear just metres off – exhilarating! This is also a wonderful opportunity to encounter the smaller creatures, often missed on safari vehicles, and to discover more about the reserve’s plants – many with fascinating medicinal properties and traditional uses.
Lion Sands together with More Community Trust assists our local Huntington and Justicia B villages, and you can get involved, too. Take a community tour (proceeds go to our development projects here), or roll up your sleeves with our Get Your Hands Dirty initiatives. These centre on education, infrastructure, health and environment, and you can choose the area best suited to your interest.
Between safaris you’ll have the luxury of free time and how better to indulge than in the spa? We favour Africology products, instilled with the belief that self-care brings balance. So with our range of therapies, we offer a wellness experience to rejuvenate your body, quiet your mind, and revitalise your spirit. If you must gym, there’s a fully kitted out facility with a view of the bush to take your mind off the burn.
From boma feasts to safari refreshment stops, dining promises to be a highlight – for all our guests, with any dietary requirement, including kosher, catered for. Our chefs transform local recipes into contemporary dishes, giving you a taste of Southern Africa. Paired with premium Cape wines, dining becomes an experience. Our wine tastings are also a favourite of connoisseurs and dabblers, alike.
Our Chalkley and Kingston Treehouses set you in the middle of big landscapes, globed by even bigger skies, their lights twinkling down to the horizon. Below, the stillness is punctuated by animals’ whistles, huffs, and growls… carried on the wind. Heaven for the hopeless romantic, the adventurer, the person who needs a complete disconnect and digital detox, and the wildlife enthusiast who prefers the bush au naturel.

More Quarters Hotel | Cape Town
Our collection of converted heritage townhouses and Redcliffe House offer you all the spoils of five-star hospitality and the privacy of individual accommodations. With their entrances onto a cobbled lane adjoining the main hotel, they create the feel of a secluded quarter in the suburb.
But around the corner, the cafés, wine bars, boutiques and interior design shops of Kloof Street are giving Gardens – one of Cape Town’s oldest and most sophisticated neighbourhoods – a fresh buzz. From your home for the holiday, it is for you to decide how much or little to do…
The Hotel Concierge is always available to assist and More Quarters is an ideal base from which to explore the city, surrounding beaches, mountains, and winelands… And to come back to, where you can kick off your shoes and flop on the couch.

This tour gives a very personal and authentic look into life in the townships.
The tour begins with a stop in at the More Community Foundation - supported Injongo Educare Crèche, Mfuleni where guests can help to make or serve the children breakfast, and read, play ball and have singalongs with them. This is followed by a short walk down the road to where the crèche began at the home of inspirational founder, Mavis Ngcongolo who will be there to greet the group.
Then it’s on to the township of Khayelitsha where guests can see the whole of Cape Town’s biggest location from Lookout Hill at the Tourism Centre, before taking a drive through the streets, hearing about its history and people as they go.
The tour’s last stop is Langa (meaning ‘sun’) and arguably Cape Town’s most vibrant and progressive settlement. Here, guests visit Langa Heritage Museum in The Old Pass Court building, Guga Sthebe Arts & Culture Centre for local empowerment, and Langa Quarter where the Ikhaya Le Langa project is furthering social enterprise and creating a tourism hotspot.
– Departure times: After breakfast and lunch – meet at hotel reception – Travel time: ±40 minutes (one way) – Tour duration: 3–4 hours – Number of guests: 2–7 – Cost: POA
As the sun dawns on your special day, celebrate the occasion with a sunrise picnic on Signal Hill. Romantic, exciting, it’s befitting any event from a birthday to anniversary, or proposal… At the most scenic lookout point, we’ll pop the bubbly and lay on treats especially for you.
– Cost: POA
More Quarters – The Breakfast Room
The hotel's à la carte menu of warm dishes is wholly satisfying, including familiar and spiced-up favourites. But if you can’t wait to get out and explore Cape Town, the deli-style buffet offers grab-’em-and-go options, like bottled smoothies and breakfast pots, whole fruit, and fresh muffins and pastries.
The chefs will also happily cater for any dietary preferences – children have their own breakfasts to choose from, too – and requirements (vegetarian, gluten free, dairy free, etc.). And if later on you’re feeling a bit peckish, there are always treats to look forward to by way of afternoon tea…
