That is exactly what the Motswari Giraffe’s Nest will offer guests who decide to spend a night overlooking Xanatsi Dam, providing an experience that will live long in the memory.

Offering the comfort and indulgence of our main camp, you can relax on the sumptuous bed or in one of the cosy chairs on the viewing deck. Adding to your comfort is an eco-bathroom upstairs so there is no need to leave your platform above the landscape. For those looking for a truly unrivaled experience, be sure to leave the front section of the roof open so that you can enjoy the stars on a clear night from your bed or cover up in case of the threat of rain with the retractable canvass roof. You may be lucky to hear hyenas, a leopard or lions calling or the nocturnal birds like owls and nightjars piercing the night.

As our guest, you will be escorted to the dam shortly before sunset, with our guide detailing the evening ahead before leaving you alone to enjoy the tranquility and privacy of this amazing addition to the Motswari portfolio until the following morning. Drinks and a delicious simple dinner will be provided for you to enjoy.

There’s no better view of the bush than a birds eye one, and this is exactly what Giraffe’s Nest offers. Here, you spend the night in luxurious comfort yet at one with the wilderness, high in an elevation of an expertly crafted treehouse overlooking Xanatsi Dam.

Giraffe’s Nest offers all the comfort and indulgence of Geiger’s Camp, with sumptuous beds and cosy chairs on the viewing deck, as well as an eco-bathroom, so there’s no need to climb down from your platform above the bush. To feel truly seamless with nature, you can leave the front section of the roof open to gaze at the canopy of stars from your bed while listening to the calls of hyena, lion and nightjar. If rain is coming, you simply cover up with the retractable canvas roof.

In a series of bespoke train journeys lasting from 48 hours to 15 nights, Rovos Rail links some of the continent’s greatest destinations with a variety of off-train excursions.

The Pullmans, used on our short journeys, accommodate one or two passengers and have an en-suite bathroom with shower, toilet and basin. During the day, the suites have a comfortable sofa-seat with a conversion to double or twin beds (side-by-side or upper and lower bunks) for the evening. A dedicated host/ess is available at all times and services the suites daily. Please note in the animation that we indicate a bar fridge, however, these have been removed from the Pullmans.
