Our Deluxe suites have a view of our rolling lawns and trout dam. Each room has a king-size bed, dressing-room area, bathroom with bath and shower, under floor heating in both bathroom and bedroom, air-conditioning, private balconies, TV and Netflix.

Our Superior Mountain View Suites are individual units with majestic views of the Drakensberg. Each suite has a king-size bed, separate lounge area, TV and Netflix and fireplace. The his and hers dressing-room area and bathroom are spacious with a workspace desk for those still needing to work. The underfloor heated bathroom has both an indoor and outdoor shower. The private verandah with its water feature and magnificent views is perfect to enjoy the beautiful sunsets.

Two bed-roomed self catering chalet. The bathrooms are en-suite with both bath and shower. The chalet has a full kitchen, lounge, fireplace and braai facilities. The chalet has Wi-Fi, DSTV and Netflix.

Our Standard accommodation is set in lush garden landscapes with a vibrant mix of indigenous planting, filled with the sounds of birdlife. Each room has king or twin beds, bathroom en suite, tea and coffee making facilities and a patio to soak up the sun and enjoy the mountain splendour. There are no TV’s in the standard accommodation.

The Lodge is situated on the site of the original Rattray homestead where David’s parents Peter and Gillian came for their holidays and here the seeds of this unique operation took root in those early years.

Spacious, luxury ensuite cottages each have a private verandah affording views over the plains flanking the Buffalo River Gorge.  Another feature of the Lodge is the beautiful, shady, well established garden, home to innumerable birds, and the large swimming pool situated on a secluded spur on the lip of the Buffalo River gorge.

Fugitives’ Drift lodge and Guest House are located inside the Fugitives’ Drift game reserve on the lip of the Buffalo River gorge, at an altitude of 3,450 feet.

The Guest House has a commanding view of the peak of Isandlwana, and of the rough country the fugitives from the battle had to traverse in order to get back across the Buffalo River into Natal.

The guest house was once the home of Mr. and Mrs. Potgieter who were immortalized in Gillian Rattray’s award-winning book, 'The Springing of the Year'. This old farmhouse has been altered and now forms the most charming sitting and dining room. The original verandas have been retained and there is a lovely outside eating area. There are 6 superior twin en-suite rooms, all with views of the garden, which has an abundance of bird life in it. We also have two rooms for guides and drivers. The guest house has a large swimming pool; also hosting spectacular views across the plain.

This small cottage is in the grounds of Umzinyathi Farmhouse; aptly named “Kwa-George” which means, “Place of George” in the Zulu language. Kwa-George consists of a basic twin bedroom, en suite bathroom with a shower, and veranda. Should you decide to take this accommodation you will need to travel to and from the lodge or the guest house for meals as well as tours (a 5-10 minute drive).

The farmhouse is a charming stone and corrugated iron roof building built in the 1920’s. It was the home of George Buntting, who was an expert on the Anglo-Zulu War. The farmhouse is at the top of the reserve and has a wonderful view of Isandlwana. It has 3 en-suite bedrooms (King, Queen and twin rooms), a sitting room with a fireplace, a dining room, and a kitchen. Although the accommodation is self-catering, you may choose to have some or all meals at the lodge at an additional cost. Should you decide to take this accommodation, you will need to travel to and from the lodge or the guest house for tours and/ or meals (a 5-10 minute drive).

Shayamanzi ll offers six air-conditioned, En-suite (shower, basin and toilet) Luxury Cabins. Each Cabin Sleeps two passengers, in either a King Bed or two Single Beds. The Cabins are large, light and airy with large sliding window from ceiling to floor.

Pontoon Cabin, Shayamanzi ll has four Pontoon Cabins. Each Cabin is En-suite (shower, basin and toilet) and accommodates up to three guests; two in a Queen Bed and one in a Single Bed. Pontoon Cabins are airconditioned and have three viewing windows.

The Tender Boats offer Full and Half Day Game Viewing and Fishing Charters to small groups of up to four Guests. Snacks are provided and drinks are offered on a pay-for-what-you-use basis.

The rooms are constructed of wood, thatch and canvas each positioned to give total privacy. They are comfortably furnished with mosquito nets, fans and tea & coffee making facilities. A unique feature of each room is the romantic outside boma bathroom with bath and shower set in soft white sand under the forest canopy. There are 2 family rooms which consist of 2 bedrooms. The main bedroom has an en-suite outdoor bathroom with shower and bath set in soft white beach sand surrounded by a reed boma.
