Summerhill Estate Anti-Stress Guest House, situated in Cowies Hill on the outskirts of Durban towards Pietermaritzburg, opened its door to guests about 15 years ago. The guest house is family run and guarantees dedicated assistance, attention to detail and a lot of warmth and caring. German is spoken at the Guest House.

The guest house offers 17 rooms across 10 000 sprawling square metres, each unique and special in its own way as each room or suite has been named after a South African Jazz player that has stayed at the accommodation previously. Dinner is an extravaganza for all senses and should not be missed. Elgin Guesthouse is located on a working dairy farm in a picturesque valley at the foot of the Southern Drakensberg Mountains, a mere 6 km from the farming town of Underberg and only about 3 hours from Durban.

This guesthouse offers bed and breakfast accommodation in four luxury en-suite rooms overlooking the lush farmlands dotted with sheep and cows and lakes at Elgin @ The Farm.

The  well-appointed suites are set in two private wings detached from the main farm house, ensuring peace and privacy for the guests. Each room has its own entrance and patio with the most beautiful view. Each room is en-suite and is equipped with a satellite TV, a heater, hairdryer and a fridge.

The Cavern Resort & Spa | Northern Drakensberg

Fugitives' Drift Lodge | Rorkes Drift

The Zulu War of 1879 is famous throughout the English-speaking world for the great battles of Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift.  The Fugitives’ Drift property, a Natural Heritage Site, overlooks both Isandlwana and Rorke’s Drift, and includes the site where Lts. Additional activities are a boat trip exploring this unique system of lakes and channels where one can see hippo, crocodile, rare birds like the Pels Fishing Owl and Palm Nut Vulture. Included in this day trip is a picnic on the unspoilt shores of Bhanga Nek before proceeding over the dunes to an hour or two on the pristine, empty beach. Another additional activity is to join a 4x4 excursion to Kosi Bay Mouth viewing ancient Thonga Fish Traps and to enjoy exceptional snorkelling in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.
