Te Tiro Cottages and Glamping Te Tiro was built to capture the unique beauty of its surroundings. As a family, we felt we should share with others the magic of what has kept us here on the family farm for 5 generations. In any kind of weather the views are breathtaking. The area includes 1000 acres of farm and 660 acres of native bush which have been put into the QE II Trust to protect it for generations to come. Our farm is a fantastic example of what Waitomo is renowned for: caves, glowworms, rough limestone out-crops, lush green fields and friendly people. At present we have a number of walking tracks through our native bush.
There are also a number of rock climbing areas which are mapped out for those interested. Caves are scattered throughout the farm and can be accessed by guided trips organised by us. Your hosts: Angus, Rachel, Max and Pippin Stubbs. Angus and Rachel have thirty years of adventure tourism experience between them and would be happy to help organise your stay in Waitomo. Angus was born in Waitomo and grew up exploring the magical limestone landscape of the area. After gaining a degree in Earth Science he travelled through Europe and Africa, eventually.

The House of Hazel is very special to me. During the birth of the project I decided to pay homage to my Nana, a forward thinking and wise woman, naming the property, The House of Hazel, after her. She was warm, welcoming and her baking tins were always full to the brim for the family!
Nana loved birds and cultivated a gathering place for local birds by feeding them a loaf a day! We have kept her bird houses and you wont miss the sounds of the birds nesting in the evening or singing away to each other during the day. We have done our best to anticipate your needs and have your accommodation well appointed for your stay. You will find everything from a hair dryer, iron etc right through to every cable tv channel, washing facilities, cookie time biscuits for your tea and chocolate on your pillow!
Property information
We invite you to unwind in Hazel’s chic Homestead; warm yourself up in front of the crackling fire on a cold evening. Cook yourself a meal in the roomy kitchen or order in, all while surfing all sky satellite channels available.
