CONSERVATION PROJECTS

Nestled in the northern expanse of the Okavango Delta, Jumbo Junction holds a distinct position where two prominent elephant corridors intersect. This convergence of majestic elephants at the junction inspired the fitting name of #JumboJunction. While the vicinity surrounding Jumbo Junction presents extraordinary wildlife viewing opportunities within the Okavango Delta. It also offers a unique chance to visit the dedicated conservation teams on the ground, allowing firsthand experiences of how NGO and wildlife management projects effectively facilitate the harmonious coexistence of rural communities and wildlife.

Ecoexist, an NGO that is involved in elephant research, collared 50+ elephants and collected data for 2 years establishing these corridors. They then managed to get buy in from the Tawana Land Board to not issue any land grants or leases within a certain distance to these corridors.
The idea is to minimise elephant/human conflict.SEE: http://www.ecoexistproject.org

CLAWS, have their research centre stationed near Jumbo Junction and specialises in protecting both predators and livestock, reducing human-wildlife conflict. Guests have the rare opportunity to visit the research station and engage with the conservation professionals who monitor and protect lions and their prides, by means of a satellite collar, a pioneering Herding Progamme with its fully automated Lion Alert System, with its defined purpose in protecting both predators and livestock SEE: http://www.clawsconservancy.org

HELICOPTER SCENIC FLIGHT

Don't miss out on the incredible opportunity of our scenic/photography flights, available at an extra cost. Moments after departing you’ll enjoy the breath-taking views seen only from a helicopter. Experience the crystal-clear water channels meandering their way through lagoons, while journeying deep into the lush green flood plains to explore the abundant wildlife of the Okavango Delta region. We take the doors off for an even better photographic experience while flying over some of the most remote, uninhabited, and wild areas of the Okavango Delta. Scenic flights are conducted any time of day, with keen photographers usually preferring the early morning or late afternoon, while some guests prefer flying during the siesta period in order not to miss other camp activities. We have a designated landing area on the outside, northern edge of the camp, and we offer scenic chopper flights with Helicopter Horizons. Our guides have been briefed on the safety protocols of approaching the helicopter.
