Day notes

You are met on arrival by a representative of dmAFRICA and assisted with immigration, customs and other formalities before being transferred to the Ngong House for dinner and overnight.

Ngong House is a unique experience. Although you will be staying in 'tree houses' you will enjoy the luxury of four poster beds, crisp linen and delicious and exquisitely presented food. The main house and each tree house have fully stocked bars.

The evenings start with sundowners on your veranda at tree level, from where you can watch the breath taking sunsets over the Ngong Hills. Nature lovers can enjoy a large variety of birds feeding from the birdfeeder hanging in front of each tree house. After sunset, before dinner, drinks will continue with the other guests around the campfire under an acacia tree nearby the swimming pool.

Ngong House is ideally situated to visit many of Kenya's best attractions including: -
Nairobi National Park, Karen Blixen Museum, challenging golf courses and the exciting market in down town Nairobi. There are four-wheel drive vehicles to take you there. Nature walks are rewarding, especially to visit the Giraffe Centre (home of the endangered Rothschild Giraffe), a twenty minutes walk from Ngong House. Built entirely from wood, the tree houses are on two levels with a bedroom area upstairs and a living area on the lower floor. They are raised 15ft from the ground to gain an uninterrupted view of the Ngong Hills over unspoiled bush. They have grass roofs made in the traditional African way. They are designed with extreme comfort in mind, yet the interiors have a decidedly rustic feel. The talents of regional artists and artisans add many of the finishing touches, such as hand woven rugs, bedcovers, lamps and stained glass.

After a full tropical breakfast, you are transferred to Nairobi’s Wilson Airport for your morning 1 hour 30 minutes scheduled flight to Lewa Downs Conservancy (baggage allowance is 15 kg in soft bags per person). A representative of Lewa Wilderness who will transfer you to your cottage accommodation meets you on arrival. Lunch, afternoon at leisure to enjoy optional scheduled activities.

You are transferred to the airstrip for your morning 1 hour 50 min. scheduled flight to the Maasai Mara Reserve (baggage allowance is strictly 15 kg in soft bags). A representative of Serian Mara Camp who will transfer you to your accommodation meets you on arrival.

Awoken gently at dawn with piping hot tea, coffee or hot chocolate guests can take a game drive in search of the Mara’s fabulous animals. Lion prides finishing their previous nights feast or furtive ‘hard to find’ leopards can be seen very close to camp.

A picnic lunch may often be taken, allowing guests to spend a full day out in the bush before returning back to this luxurious camp for well-earned sundowners on the veranda. Dinner by candlelight is taken in the stylish designed dining room featuring a natural stone fireplace, elegantly placed sofas and chairs under a permanent thatched roof.

Another early morning start may begin with a walk escorted by an armed guide. Here one can appreciate the ‘Little Five’ and notice all the unique savannah flora and fauna at close quarters. Guests may find time to seek out the local Maasai customs and traditions which highlight their age old, nomadic, pastoral existence.

Breakfast is often taken in the bush away from camp and late morning allows you to explore the riverbanks for hippos, crocodiles and resting large cats shading themselves from the midday sun. Taking an afternoon siesta may be in order followed by an evening game drive exploring another less visited corner of this expansive wilderness.

Optional morning game drive or just relax until lunch, after which you are transferred to the airstrip for your afternoon 2 hours scheduled flight to Mombasa (baggage allowance is 15 kg in soft bags per person). You are met on arrival by a dmAFRICA representative who will transfer you to Bodo from where you will be transferred to Funzi Keys Private Island.
