Days 1 - 2: Tarangire National Park

Assuming you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in the morning, you will be met by your driver/guide with his safari ready 4x4 Land Cruiser and transfer through the Great Rift Valley to Tarangire, arriving just in time for lunch.

Your days on safari can be spent as you wish and your driver/guides will discuss each day with you as you go along. The norm is an early wake up with coffee/tea around 6am to depart on a pre-breakfast game drive at about 630am. Being so close to the equator sunrise and sunset varies by an hour at most throughout the year, the temperature can also be comparatively cold in the early mornings and evenings, so it is a good idea to dress in layers when you go out on a drive as the middle of the day will be hot and dry.

After a sumptuous breakfast, the middle of the day is yours to do with as you please, many people go back to their tents and have a shower, perhaps read and take a nap before lunch or play board games in the main mess/lounge area of camp. After lunch you have a few hours to relax again before heading out around 330/4pm on an afternoon game drive – perhaps follow up on the pride of lion you saw in the morning, or head out to look for an elusive leopard or cheetah. After the game drive is time for a well-deserved pre-dinner drink around the camp fire and a chance to swap stories with other guests.

Days 3 - 4: Karatu

After breakfast you drive up the edge of the escarpment, through the coffee plantations of Karatu and into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, arriving just in time for lunch at Ngorongoro Farm House.

Ngorongoro Farm House is a small and exclusive hotel with hand plaited thatched roof tops, ample verandas and colonial interiors built on a 500 acre coffee plantation. It has been designed to take you to the comfort and style of past times. Take a walk around the farm to contemplate the daily activities, relax in the fragrant gardens or enjoy the spectacular sunsets with the Oldeani volcano as a backcloth.

Early on the morning of the second day you will descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a six hour game drive with a picnic lunch, returning to the Lodge for a well earned bath and most likely a nap!

Days 5 - 6: Seronera

After breakfast, transfer by road from Ngorongoro Farm House to the central Serengeti in the 4x4 Land Cruiser where you will arrive just in time for lunch. At the camp you will spend the next three nights exploring the wild Serengeti on game drives.

This camp moves according to the season and is sited in the scenically and outstandingly beautiful Moru Kopjes in June. Moru is the unique location for the Serengeti Rhino project and also by virtue of permanent water in the area boasts a large population of lion with densities approaching the Seronera area but unlike Seronera the area is not congested and it is much more remote and private. The resident game is plentiful and is the reason the Lion population is high. The migration may or may not move through the area in June and the pattern of the migration is very difficult to determine in advance being subject to weather patterns and availability of water for the large herds.

Days 7 - 8: Ndutu

The Ndutu/Lake Masek areas offer access to the Serengeti short grass plains for the great migration and specifically when the wildebeests are calving around mid February to early March. The lake offers essential water which brings the game in from the surrounding planes for excellent wildlife viewing. The area is also very good for lion, cheetah, and excellent plains game along with the migration.
