Day 1: Travelling

Day 2: Yangon

Fly to Yangon and stay for three nights at the Savoy Hotel. The former capital is the perfect place to start any journey in Myanmar.

Day 3: Yangon

Enjoy a morning at leisure to visit a market or explore the streets. In the afternoon enjoy a guided tour of the Sule Pagoda, the reclining Buddha and Shwedagon Pagoda.

Day 4: Yangon

Take a guided walking tour of the city’s oldest areas, along the banks of the Yangon River and watch the locals at close quarters going about their daily routines. The afternoon brings a visit to the Chinese Temple in Chinatown followed by a train ride on the city’s circular line.

Day 5: Old Bagan

Fly to Bagan, the capital of the first Burmese Empire. Enjoy a tour of some of the most significant temples and pagodas, including the 11th Century Schwedagon Pagoda. View the sunset over the Irrawaddy River from a temple top and stay for three nights at Bagan Thande Hotel.

Day 6: Old Bagan

An early start to experience the wonders of a sunrise over Bagan and a thousand years of history from the magic of a hot air balloon. After breakfast, visit further temple sites before leaving the beaten track to visit local villages.

Day 7: Old Bagan

Visit Mount Popa, an extinct volcano with spectacular views. Its shrine at the top of the peak, dedicated to animist spirits known as “nats”, is reached by climbing 777 steps!

Day 8: Mandalay

Fly to Mandalay and stay for two nights at the Mandalay Hill Resort. This afternoon experience one of the country’s most revered religious monuments, the Mahamuni Pagoda, as well as the Shwe Inbin and Golden Palace monasteries. Mandalay is also great for keen shoppers as it is famous for its wood carvings, marble, jewels and traditional puppets.

Day 9: Mandalay

Discover three of Myanmar's ancient capitals - Amarapura, Ava and Sagaing. The journey includes the country's largest monastery, a workshop where colourful silks are woven, and the ruined remains of the Royal Palace. Cross the Irrawaddy in the afternoon to Sagaing, a city with more than 600 ivory-hued pagodas, before ending the day at the U Bein teak bridge.

Day 10: Inle Lake

Fly to Heho and continue by road to Inle Lake to stay for two nights at the Inle Princess Resort. Enjoy an excursion on the lake viewing the famous leg-rowing fishermen and typical floating gardens, and visiting temples and local markets.

Day 11: Inle Lake

Travel by boat to the western shore of the lake to find the beginning of a path leading to the hidden and unknown Shwe Inn Thein Pagoda complex consisting of hundreds of small stupas overgrown by nature.

Day 12: Ngapali Beach

Fly to Thandwe to stay for four nights on the beach in Ngapali at the Sandoway Resort.

Day 13: Ngapali Beach

Enjoy walks along the deserted beach, visits to the local fishing village, boat trips in the Bay of Bengal, and wonderful traditionally-cooked seafood.

Day 14: Ngapali Beach

Fly to Yangon and onwards to Bangkok. Connect with overnight flight to the UK, arriving the following morning.
