Feel at Home (5*) on a Luxurious Family Safari to Tanzania

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be assisted off the plane and be escorted to your early flight to Kuro Airstrip in Tarangire National Park. Here, you will be met by your driver/guide from Kuro Tarangire Camp and take a short game drive back to camp.

Time on safari is yours to do with as you wish and your driver/guides will discuss each day with you as you go along. The norm is an early wake up with coffee/tea around 6am to depart on a pre-breakfast game drive at about 630am. Being so close to the equator Kenya’s sunrise and sunset varies by an hour at most throughout the year, the temperature can also be comparatively cold in the early mornings and evenings, so it is a good idea to dress in layers when you go out on a drive as the middle of the day will be hot and dry.

After a sumptuous breakfast, the middle of the day is yours to do with as you please, many people go back to their tents and have a shower, perhaps read and take a nap before lunch or play board games in the main mess/lounge area of camp. After lunch you have a few hours to relax again before heading out around 330/4pm on an afternoon game drive – perhaps follow up on the pride of lion you saw in the morning, or head out to look for an elusive leopard or cheetah. After the game drive is time for a well-deserved pre-dinner drink around the camp fire and a chance to swap stories with other guests.

After a last breakfast in Tarangire, you will head back to Kuro Airstrip and board a short scheduled flight to Manyara Airstrip. On arrival, you will be met by a representative of Entamanu Ngorongoro and drive back to camp for a late lunch.

Early on the morning of the second day you will descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a six hour game drive, returning for a well earned bath and most likely a nap!

After an early breakfast over looking the crater rim, head back to Manyara Airstrip to board your scheduled flight to Kogatende airstrip. On arrival in the Lamai wedge of the northern Serengeti, you will be met by a driver/guide from Mkombe's House and return to your private house for a late lunch.

Named after a guide who cherished the area, and had a special connection with children, this self-contained private house for ten was designed for families, and is set in the middle of one of Serengeti’s richest mammal habitats. Solitary under huge skies and amidst the great grassland plains, it grants complete freedom from other people and schedules. It’s also excitement-central: a lively base for expertly guided forays into the bush: scouting buffalo, elephants, lion, crocodiles – and the famous wildebeest river crossings.

Game drives, guided walks (for guests 12 years and older), bush picnics, and sundowners are all included activities. Mkombe’s House is located within a few miles of Mara River crossings (from July to October) and offers good all-year round resident game sightings.

After a last breakfast, you will be transferred to Kogatende airstrip for your flight back to Kilimanjaro and your international flight home. If you aren't ready to end your safari here then why not extend ..........
