Days 1 - 3: Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe)

Experience the essence of Africa in Zimbabwe - meet the wildlife and whet your appetite for delicious food and interesting cultures. On arrival at Victoria Falls International Airport you'll be met by our driver for your road transfer to Victoria Falls Safari Lodge for a special three nights in Victoria Falls.

On your first evening you will go for a sunset cruise on the Zambezi River; watch the sun set over a beautiful view as you sample excellent drinks and nibbles, with a little bit of fizz to boot. (Park fees of US$10 per person must be paid in cash.) You will return to dry land and head to the Makuwa-Kuwa restaurant for an a la carte dinner.

On your second day in 'Vic Falls', you will experience the Falls up close. Your guided tour takes place in the morning and will get you a chance to feel the mist of 'the Smoke that Thunders' on your face! Parks fees (US$30 per person paid in cash.) Followed by the Vulture Culture Experience at Makuwa-Kuwa. Here, enjoy a lunch in the restaurant whilst food is put out for the local vultures to ensure the birds, many of which are endangered, get enough to eat - an educational experience. This evening you'll enjoy your first wine-related activity: learning about David Livingstone from local experts as you sample excellent local wines.

On the third day yo're free to explore Victoria Falls. There are plenty of things to do - you could even try one of the many high-octane experiences that Victoria Falls is famous for! Evening dinner with a cultural experience at the Boma - fine dining with more traditional entertainment.

Days 4 - 6: Hwange National Park

You will be picked up from your lodge and driven to Hwange National Park for the next part of your adventure. The transfer will take several hours and showcases the Zimbabwean landscape as it changes from the rainforest climate of Victoria Falls into the Kalahari sands of the park. On arrival at Hwange Main Camp you'll swap vehicles to a safari jeep for your game drive towards the Hide.

The Hide is located next to a permanent waterhole. which provides much needed water for the animals at all times. This also means that the view from your accommodation is never the same, as the wildlife come and go. As well as the facilities and entertainment available from the Hide itself, you'll have two game viewing activities every day - exploring the area and experiencing some of the best game that Zimbabwe has to offer! The vehicles are specifically designed to get the most out of this experience, and we can guarantee you'll have a fantastic time!

Expert tips

You'll enjoy your second wine tasting experience in the underground wine cellar, situated on the way to the hide. From the hide you will get close-up views of elephants, giraffe and many other species of wildlife that are regularly at the permanent waterhole in front of the safari camp.

Days 7 - 8: Cape Town

After breakfast at the Hide, you will drive to Hwange Main Camp and meet the driver who will take you back Victoria Falls. You'll be dropped off at the airport to connect to your scheduled flight to Cape Town. On arrival at Cape Town you're taken to the Cape Cadogan Boutique Hotel. Now the wine tour really comes into its own.


The hotel is located in one of the best wine making regions in the world, along the beautiful Cape Coast. Spend two nights here and enjoy some of the best wine that South Africa has to offer before moving on.

Expert tips

Spend the day at your leisure to choose from the many activities available in Cape Town. The Cape Point tour is highly recommended, stopping at Boulders Simons town to see the penguins.

You can also spend the day exploring Cape Town and Table Mountain by taking advantage of the excellent open top' hop off hop on' bus. The hotel will be able to advise you on arrival, or at breakfast in the morning. Evening wine tasting.

Day 9: Franschhoek

You will spend the morning in Constantia, with an optional winery visit to Groot Constantia chargeable to your own account. Lunchtime will be spent at the luxurious Lanzerac Wine Estate, enjoying a tasty Stellenbosch lunch put on for you.

We then make our way to the Franschhoek Country House and Villas for your first night in the Franshhoek valley.

At the Jordan Estate you are booked on a Tour of the Vineyards in an open safari-style game viewing Land Rover, with stops to experience the spectacular views of False and Table Bays, as well as the flora and fauna of the Cape Winelands. Experience the terroir and geology of the estate whilst tasting a selection wines in the sustainably grown vineyards. This includes a cellar tour with additional wines to be tasted in the barrel cellar or on the terrace. There will also be a tasting of Cobblers Hill and Mellifera Natural sweet.

Day 10: Franschhoek

This morning you will visit La Motte in Franschhoek, a wine estate that is owned by a premier mezzo-soprano singer from the Rupert Family. Find out about the estate and learn more about the wine produced in this spectacular area. If you wish to have lunch in Franshhoek we recommend La Petite Ferme (to your own account).

This afternoon you will move on to Haute Cabrière Winery, exploring your fourth wine estate in two days and rounding off the experience with an excellent dinner in the Tasting Room at Le Quartier Français. You will return to Franschhoek Country House and Villas for the night.

From the Franschhoek House and Villas, you will be driven back to Cape Town Airport for your onward flight.
