Days 1 - 2: Karatu

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) in Tanzania, you will connect to your flight to Lake Manyara airstrip where you will be met by a representative of The Manor at Ngorongoro. Driving back through the green rolling hills of Karatu’s coffee plantations to your home for the next two nights, an old farmstead located on a 1,500 acre Arabica coffee estate.

Evoking a bygone luxurious era of Karen Blixen and Hemingway, think cigars, snooker, the Manor is the perfect beginning to your safari. Relax, horseride through the coffee, or take a bush walk on your first day to shake off the jetlag.

On the second day you will descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a six hour game drive with a picnic lunch, returning to the Manor for a well earned bath and most likely a nap!

Days 3 - 5: Singita Serengeti Grumeti

After a leisurely breakfast you will be transferred back to Lake Manyara airstrip for your scheduled flight to Sasakwa airstrip in Serengeti. Upon arrival you will be met by your driver/guide from Singita Sabora Camp and transfer across

some of the vast grasslands of the renowned Serengeti, providing what many consider to be the quintessential African game viewing experience. The Serengeti is renowned for having the largest concentration of migratory animals in the world, and is also famous for its large lion population. Together with the adjacent Masai Mara they are best known for hosting the annual migration of wildebeest, during which almost two million animals move across the plains and woodlands..

Your days on safari can be spent as you wish and your driver/guides will discuss each day with you as you go along. The norm is an early wake up with coffee/tea around 6am to depart on a pre-breakfast game drive at about 630am. Being so close to the equator sunrise and sunset varies by an hour at most throughout the year, the temperature can also be comparatively cold in the early mornings and evenings, so it is a good idea to dress in layers when you go out on a drive as the middle of the day will be hot and dry.

After a sumptuous breakfast, the middle of the day is yours to do with as you please, many people go back to their tents and have a shower, perhaps read and take a nap before lunch or play board games in the main mess/lounge area of camp. After lunch you have a few hours to relax again before heading out around 330/4pm on an afternoon game drive – perhaps follow up on the pride of lion you saw in the morning, or head out to look for an elusive leopard or cheetah. After the game drive is time for a well-deserved pre-dinner drink around the camp fire and a chance to swap stories with other guests.
