10 Tage Namibia straight out of a picture-book

Day 1: Windhoek

WINDHOEK

After arrival in Windhoek you take over your rental vehicle and drive to your first guesthouse in the green suburbs of this beautiful capital of Namibia. (Attention: Please drive on the left side of the road!) Enjoy the first day with arrival and the first city tour. We recommend a dinner in Windhoek's famous restaurant - the Joe's Beerhouse. This is only a short walk from your accommodation, The Elegant Guesthouse.

Day 2: Etosha South

WINDHOEK - OMBIKA / ETOSHA (approx. 405 km / 4:00h)

The day usually starts with wonderful sunshine. Look forward to getting to know the country and its people today. You start early and enjoy a wonderful breakfast before driving from Windhoek to Etosha. Once there you can take your first game drive in this beautiful reserve. Maybe you should once consider booking a privately guided tour offered by the lodge. Then you can relax in the open country cruiser while looking for all the elephants, lions, rhinos and other animals.

The accommodation today is the Etosha Safari Camp Gondwana.

Day 3: Etosha South

ETOSHA

The next two days are filled with prairie rides and wildlife watching. They are dedicated to the breathtaking fauna of Etosha. With your off-road vehicle you can drive to the numerous water points, where a huge number of animals can be found very often. Before sunset you will be back at Etosha Safari Camp Gondwana.

Day 4: Etosha South

ETOSHA

Enjoy the 'Etosha Enchantment' today on your own or a privately guided tour. In the afternoon you will return to camp to relax. Immerse yourself in the cool water of the pools or treat yourself to high-quality food and wine - and above all peace and quiet. Peace, which is needed for an extraordinary Etosha experience.

In the evening you may dine under a dome of stars on the veranda or sit next to a blazing fire and watch the red ball of the sun sinking gracefully into the landscape. The day could not end any better; Etosha, the heart of the country, lures with the immense beauty of the natural world.

Day 5: Swakopmund

ETOSHA - TWYFELFONTEIN -  SWAKOPMUND (approx. 730 km / 8:30h)

After so much rest another day of travel follows today. It will start very early, because today the way is the aim . Drive south through Damaraland along the Skeleton Coast. Pay attention to the Twyfelfontein ("spring") valley about 70 km west of Khorixas where the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Rock Paintings is located (do only visit with a guide!).

A stop at the Spitzkoppe, the Matterhorn of Africa, is worthwhile on the way. The red rocks tower steeply out of the plain and can already be seen from afar. You can hike and climb wonderfully here.

Later you get to the coastal town of Swakopmund, the most German city in Africa. Here you can still see many relics of the German colonial era more than a hundred years ago. German is still spoken everywhere. Sights include the lighthouse Swakopmund and the pier, an old bank wall. Next to the lighthouse, the Swakopmund Museum traces Namibian history. Nowadays there is a hotel in the interior of the country in the elegant Swakopmund train station from colonial times.

Your destination today is the Hotel Zum Kaiser.

Day 6: Swakopmund

SWAKOPMUND

A full day of rest and relaxation after yesterday's long drive. Today you have time to enjoy the fresh sea air, to look at the ocean and let your soul dangle. Culinary Swakopmund also has a lot to offer, you can eat fish everywhere, which is not common in Namibia. Why not rent a few 'big bikes' and cycle with them through the dunes and along the beach? A great experience!

Day 7: Sesriem

SWAKOPMUND - WALFISCHBUCHT - SOSSUSVLEI (approx. 320 km / 4:10h)

You leave the coast at Walvisbay and turn into the desert. The next 100km you think you are in the Sahara. Sand as far as the eye can see. Soon the landscape becomes mountainous and overall it becomes greener again. However, you remain in untouched nature and only a few farms are located to the left and right of the sea. On the way you will pass Solitaire, a small collection of buildings and a gas station. A good place for lunch before going to Naukluft Mountain Zebra Park. In the evening, you can end the day with watching the sun going down and the following star show.

Your accommodation today is the Sossusvlei Lodge at the entrance of Naukluft Park.

Day 8: Sesriem

SOSSUSVLEI

Today one of Namibia's most famous sights is visited by you: the red dunes at Sesriem with the Sossusvleij. The pictures of a majestic oryx antelope in front of the deep red dunes are world-famous. Today you have the opportunity to see this with your own eyes. Start early to take the best pictures in the park in the early light of day. But also take your time for Sesriem Canyon, Deadvlei and the famous dune 45.
