The park also features five different wildlife habitats: the seasonal lake bed of Lake Amboseli, Sulfur springs surrounded by swamps and marshes, open plains , woodlands and lava rock thorn bush country. Amboseli is best known for its great elephants herds.. The park also provides the best chance of spotting the elusive black rhino . Lion and cheetah are common as well as Maasai giraffe, eland, coke's heartebeest, waterbuck, impala and gazelle.

Day 4: Amboseli National Park

Spend the day exploring Amboseli National Park. Amboseli is a top destination for a Kenya Safari. Indeed, one of the classic images of East Africa, let alone Kenya, is that of a herd of elephant strolling across the plains with the snow-capped peak of Kilimanjaro in the background. It is to catch this sight on memory - and on film - that people flood to Amboseli National Park. While Kilimanjaro is actually across the border in Tanzania, Amboseli has a perfect view of this world's tallest freestanding mountain, rising an impressive 5 kilometres above the plains. The best time to view the majestic mountain is at dawn and sunset, when the clouds lift and the light is both clear and soft. The park is one of the smaller game parks in Kenya, but it offers you the best opportunity of seeing the critically endangered black rhino, along with a spectacular range of wildlife. The area's low and well-munched vegetation also ensures that animals are easy to spot. Lions can easily be found and can occasionally be watched stalking their prey. Buffalo, cheetah, gazelle, hyena, jackal, wildebeest, zebra, and baboon are just some of the animals that can be encountered at Amboseli. More wild Elephant can be seen In Amboseli National Park than almost anywhere else on the African Continent.

In the morning on Day 5 you will fly from Amboseli back to Wilson and then on to Samburu. Where you will spend the next two days exploring Samburu National Park. With its incredible wildlife and picturesque surroundings, it's a real surprise that Samburu National Park remains one of Kenya's lesser-visited regions. However, its peaceful atmosphere and the authentic wilderness experience set it apart from the country's better-known wildlife reserves.

Situated on the banks of the Ewaso Ngíro River, with its palm groves and dense forests, Samburu boasts plentiful wildlife and the birdwatching is especially good. The remainder of the reserve is semi-arid, making for easy game viewing.
