Olarro Lodge | Loita Hills

Located in the Loita Hills, perched on a 2,000m high vantage point and designed by renowned architect and artist Anthony Russell, Olarro is an eco-lodge of the highest order with exclusive access to its own 7,000 acres conservancy. At maximum capacity of just 18 people, the emphasis in Olarro is on privacy and exclusivity, and on space and tranquility.

Olarro was recently voted as one of the "World's Most Romantic Hotels" and a "Top 50 New Hotel" by Travel + Leisure. It is a unique, artistically styled retreat built with undulating curves that mimic the rolling hillside on which the lodge is set; blending in effortlessly into its surrounds. The interior is cool white, accented by earth-toned accessories and enhanced by modern decor chosen for its quality and the integrity of its design.

Olarro is 99% powered by renewable energy with a sophisticated installation of solar and wind energy-generation systems that charge deep-cycle batteries and solar water heaters to supply all the water and electricty needs for the lodge and the swimming pool.

The Lodge is surrounded by 150,000 acres of Maji Moto Group Ranch, which is owned by the local Maasai people. The lodge offers private wilderness, with rolling hills of bush-land, savannah valleys and spreading acacia trees. It is a unique environment, where the Masai pastoralists for the centuries have co-existed peacefully with the wild animals. The Conservancy sits along the corridor of the annual wildebeest migration and plays a significant role in the Greater Nguruman, Loita, Mara, and Serengeti ecosystems.

Ninety percent of all wildlife in Kenya lives outside the game parks. The Olarro conservancy offers guests exclusive and undisturbed access, day and night, to a pristine wilderness and the chance of sightings with cheetah, lion, herds of elephant, giraffe, antelope and many more. No other vehicles and holidaymakers will compete with you for the best spot to take a picture or observe the animals, as has become so common in national parks and game reserves.
