The Owner and Managing Director of Starry Starry Nights, Conrad Hennig was born in Johannesburg; South Africa.  He has always had a passion for the outdoors and with the family moving the Kwa-Zulu-Natal Battlefields, he soon realized that there was much to be learned from a natural history of the Biggars- and Drakensberg mountain ranges.  After matriculation, Conrad studied a BSc (Hons) in Zoology on marine intertidal invertebrate ecology at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Pietermaritzburg. 

However, scientific methodology was not to tie him down and he joined Wilderness Safaris is 1994 and was sent to all manner of southern African countries to start up lodges; run operations and lead and design safaris.  He spent 7 years guiding in Botswana, and still to this day recommends at least one month annually safariing in that great country. 

He currently creates and leads safaris and expeditions on the whole African continent and offshore Madagascar and other Mascerene islands through his own safari agency.  2015 is the twentieth year that Conrad has been leading safaris and expeditions across the world.

However it was in 1999 when “Y2K” panic was rife that Conrad thought the world was going to end and he decided that Antarctica would be the place to see the world end.  Incredibly, it did not and since then Conrad has been traversing the polar worlds, from North to South; guiding, lecturing, leading and enjoying the ice. He has spent the last decade in remote polar locations, and even enjoyed seasons in Churchill; Canada, guiding at the famous “polar bear capital of the world”. 

Conrad enjoys sharing true Wilderness areas with his guests, whether it be the Arctic, Antarctic or Africa (and more recently Burma / Myanmar). 

His aim in the coming years is to develop the Western Indian Ocean for scientists and scientific and conservation-minded sympathizers from around the world – especially the French and Reunion-administered islands and atolls.  This will be with the small expedition ship (50 potential guests plus staff) the M/V Quest. 

1. Cancellation

In the event of cancellation of the booking for any reason whatsoever, partially or in full, by or on behalf of you, Starry Starry Nights (PTY)Ltd reserves the right to claim the services, administration, communication and cancellation charges reasonable in the circumstances or specified in the booking confirmation and which charges will inter alia depend on the debits Starry Starry Nights (PTY)Ltd receives from the Supplier/s with whom the reservations were made on your behalf.

No refunds are entertained by Starry Starry Nights (PTY)Ltd and the Supplier/s of travel services for no-shows or unused services.

1.3 A general guideline on Starry Starry Nights (PTY) Ltd. cancellation fees are as follows:

1.3.1 35% – At the time of confirming a booking: 35%deposit - deposit is non-refundable.

1.3.2 60 days prior to departure: 100% of total price.

2. Disclaimer of Liability

2.1 As stated above, Starry Starry Nights (PTY) Ltd acts as agents/brokers only and has no direct control over the Supplier/s. Neither Starry Starry Nights (PTY)Ltd nor its holding, parent, subsidiary or associated companies nor its employees, representatives or directors, shall be liable for any loss, injury of, or damage to your person and/or property whatsoever arising from any actions, errors or omissions on the part of the Supplier/s or otherwise in connection therewith, except where the liability Starry Starry Nights (PTY)Ltd for any loss, injury of, or damage to a person and/or property is as a result of the negligence, fraud or willful default of Starry Starry Nights (PTY)Ltd and/or its Supplier(s).

3. Interpretation, Law Applicable and Jurisdiction

3.1 Words implying the singular shall include the plural and vice versa, words importing one gender shall include any other and reference to natural persons shall include legal entities and vice versa.

3.2 This agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

3.3 The Parties hereby consent to the jurisdiction of the appropriate Magistrate’s Court in regard to any action and/or proceedings based on/or arising from these Standard Conditions of Business.

3.4 These terms and conditions together with the terms of the booking confirmation/quote reflects the only and full agreement between you and Starry Starry Nights (PTY)Ltd and any variation and/or amendments thereof shall not be valid unless agreed to by Starry Starry Nights (PTY)Ltd in writing.

4. Unforeseen Events and Changes to/Non-delivery of Event Arrangements

4.1 In the event of there being an unscheduled extension or curtailment to the booking caused by flight delays, bad weather, terrorism, strike or any other cause that is beyond the control of Starry Starry Nights (PTY) Ltd, the Supplier/s, any expenses relating to these unscheduled extensions (hotel accommodation, etc.) will be for your account and there shall be no right to any refund in respect of the curtailed portion of the booking.

4.2 In the event that any Supplier is unable to provide the service confirmed to you, Starry Starry Nights (PTY)Ltd or the Supplier/s shall endeavour to substitute alternative arrangements of a similar standard to those set out in the original booking.

5. General Terms

5.1 Starry Starry Nights (PTY)Ltd shall not be bound by any representation, warranty, promise or the like not recorded herein or agreed to by it in writing. No representation, term, warranty or condition express or implied shall be considered to be or have been made or agreed or implied by reference to any other writing, advertisement or conversation.

No indulgence, which Starry Starry Nights (PTY)Ltd may grant to any party, shall constitute a waiver of any of the rights of Starry Starry Nights (PTY)Ltd who shall not thereby be precluded from exercising any rights against the customer and/or the traveller which may have arisen in the past or which might arise in the future.

Each term or condition of these terms and conditions shall be separate and separately enforceable from the other terms and conditions herein, and shall in no way be limited or restricted by reference to or inference from any other terms or conditions. If any term or condition herein, shall be found to be illegal or unenforceable then the remaining terms and hereof shall be and remain binding.
