The Park Hotel Ruapehu
Spiral Restaurant & Bar
The Spiral Restaurant is named after the historic Raurimu railway spiral that winds its way up the central plateau. The restaurant has a warm, hospitable atmosphere and a ton of character — 2 open fire places, lots of wood, exposed beams and old railway photos.
We're a favourite of in-house guests, locals and guests of other accommodators. Packed lunches are also available on request and are very popular with walkers of the Tongariro Crossing. Enjoy great Volcanic coffee brewed from our 3 group espresso machine with take out option available.
Opening hours are Breakfast: 6.30am – 9.30am and Dinner: 5.00pm – 9.00pm
The Spiral Bar
As with the restaurant The Spiral Bar is named after the historic Raurimu railway spiral that winds its way up the central plateau. Constructed in the early 1900s the spiral was regarded as an engineering masterpiece, enabling trains to surmount a steep gradient and nearly 140 metres vertically to reach the central plateau’s 825m elevation.
A small and intimate bar that opens out to magnificent views of the 3 volcanoes — Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro. Open daily from 4.30 pm it's a great place to unwind after a big day out on the mountain.
