Take a trip in our local dugout canoes around the island in the true spirit of the local people. An experienced local guide will paddle as you sit in the hand-made boat. It is believed that this style of softwood canoe is the very one used by the late Dr David Livingstone to travel past these same islands over 150 years ago. This is the best way to view the river and experience some unique sightings of birds and river life.

Should guests be interested in learning about the local culture, customs, and traditions in our area we highly recommend a walk to the local villages. On the walk, the guests will learn more about the history of the village as well as interact with the local people, where they can either do the short village walk which covers about 4 to 5 villages as they walk upstream, and come back to the lodge in a dugout canoe.

The Nature walk is a day time activity, that can be done alone or with other guests. There is a tree guide booklet available to help identify the trees and shrubs and their medicinal properties.

Dare to catch the Zambezi's most elusive fish, the world-renowned Tiger fish. Tackle and bait are available from the guides; please speak to the duty manager/guide who will advise on the best time to go fishing.
