Intimate Mobile Camps

Visitors to Tanzania wishing to cohabitate with the extraordinary wildlife, birdlife and nature to be found in the absolute privacy of their own surroundings need look no further than ‘Intimate Camps.’ Your own private camp can be set up for you almost anywhere you desire on the Tanzania Northern Safari circuit. Locations include Arusha National Park, Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area and the Serengeti National Park. For those guests wishing to travel “off the beaten path,” far flung locations such as West Kilimanjaro and the Lakes of Natron and Eyasi can also be booked.

 Intimate Camps vary in size between 1 accommodation tent for 2 people only up to a maximum of 15 accommodation tents for a maximum of 30 people. Each sleeping tent measures 6 by 3 ½ metres (20 by 11 ½ feet) and consists of a verandah, bedroom area, dressing area and separate ensuite shower and toilet. As an added convenience, each tent is provided with sufficient power for lighting as well as for charging mobile telephones, cameras and laptop computers. This electricity is harvested from the sun’s rays via a solar system.

 There are a number of different day tents of different dimensions which are used according to the size of group to be accommodated. These day tents are designed to provide comfortable dining and recreation for those moments when guests are not out and about exploring the area and viewing the wildlife and birdlife. Evenings are spent around the all-important campfire.

 Activities vary according to the location you choose for your camp. However, these can range from game drives to view the great wildebeest migration as well as other wildlife and birdlife; game walks, nature walks and walks with ancient African tribes such as the Maasai and the Hadzabe people; off-road game driving as well as night game drives; hiking on the slopes of Mounts Kilimanjaro, Meru or Ol Doinyo Lengai and early morning game viewing from the skies in a hot air balloon. Full service “bush” breakfasts, lunches and evening sundowners can also be arranged.

Private, luxury mobile camping in its purest form is widely regarded as providing the most authentic of safari experiences. Unlike staying in hotels and lodges, it enables guests to blend in with and become part of the environment they wish to experience. And once they depart there is little, if any evidence of their visit aside from their cherished memories and the pictures which they take away with them to enjoy for many years to come.
