Evening Shade

Evening Shade is a quiet safe serene oasis in the middle of Historic Omaruru. We have 5 rooms 3 double/singles, 2 family, 17 beds in total, each room is full of character, the owner is an artist, so all are a bit funky yet extremely luxurious.

We offer a traditional American style breakfast for all our guests at our Main Street Café just a 20 second walk from your room, Main Street Café will also happily serve you lunch, afternoon tea and dinner with prior arraignments. Main Street Café’s operating principle couldn’t be simpler good honest food, prepared daily using locally sourced ingredients, our place is spotless, and our service is old school.

All of Evening Shades rooms are safe, clean, and comfortable with huge bathrooms, great beds, mosquito nets, linens (all cotton). Free Wifi, satellite TV, fans to stay cool, fully stocked mini bar, laundry service is also available. Also should you prefer to cater for yourself, our rooms all have an extremely well equipped kitchenette. There is a 24 hour management presence, so should you have any issues night or day there is someone ready and able to assist you within seconds.

Family Room 1

In the days when this was the Omaruru Dampf Bakery Family Room #1 was the owner’s apartment. This is a three room suite plus bath and sleep 6 people in total. There are two separate and generous bedrooms over 65 sqm of space to relax in. There are air conditioners in both bedrooms, TV in one. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a 4 burner gas hob, toaster, kettle, microwave and all steel pots and pans and a table that comfortably seats 6. Family Room #1 has strikingly high ceilings to aid in getting rid of the summer heat.

One bedroom has two beds which can be put together to make a king or separated. The second bedroom has three beds, two that can be put together to form a king and a single. Our mattresses are long and wide; our linens are high thread count cotton, comfortable pillows, warm duvets and extra blankets for those few nights there is a chill in the air. Big fluffy cotton bath towels, hand towels, and face cloths. We even provide each room with a kit to clean your shoes.

There is a TV with a generous selection of entertainment, movie channels, sports, news, and discovery. The entire complex is covered by our fast and free Wi-Fi.

Parking is ample free and right next to your room. For those guests that stay more than one night we will freshen up your room by your request. Should you be in need of some clean clothes we can help!

And yes there is a well-stocked mini-bar that features locally produced wines.

Family Room 2

In the days when this was the Omaruru Dampf Bakery these were store rooms and where the bakery made its pasta. This is a three room suite plus bath suite that comfortably accommodates 5 people. Two separate and generous bedrooms over 70 sqm of space to relax in. Air conditioners in both bedrooms, TV in one. There is a fully equipped kitchen with a 4 burner gas hob, toaster, kettle, microwave and all steel pots and pans and a table that comfortably seats 6. Family Room #2 has strikingly high ceilings to aid in getting rid of the summer heat.

Single/ Double Room

These rooms are well equipped comfortable and spacious, offering 36sqm to stretch out in and relax. Each room has two beds which can be put together to make a king or separated. Our mattresses are long and wide; our linens are high thread count cotton, comfortable pillows, warm duvets and extra blankets for those few nights there is a chill in the air. Big fluffy cotton bath towels, hand towels, and face cloths. We even provide each room with a kit to clean your shoes. All the singe doubles have mosquito nets. Each room has a fully equipped kitchen with a 4 burner gas hob, toaster, kettle, microwave and all steel pots and pans. Our bathrooms are much bigger then the norm here in Namibia, showers are big enough for 2. Sadly there are no tubs.

There is a semi-private porch with chairs to sit and enjoy the garden.
