THE ART OF GAME VIEWING
We design intimate safaris for true wildlife aficionados who share the passion for great sightings and want to experience the thrill of exceptional wildlife encounters.
Our presence on the ground in Africa along with the collective time spent on the field by our guides allows us to track and foresee wildlife movements. All our guides are trained to anticipate wildlife movements so they can procure amazing game viewing without disturbing the natural order.
Whether you are looking for high levels of privacy, unique photographic opportunities or to focus exclusively on big cats sightings or bird watching, among others, we take care of all the logistics end to end with careful planning and attention to detail, and allocate our guides to meet your specific needs.
YOUR STAY
Enkewa Camp's main goal is to preserve and maintain the essence of Maasai Mara as it has been for generations. That is why our mission is to make our clients experience a unique safari in which the main characteristic is authenticity, always under the respect and care of the ecosystem.
With an eco luxury Camp and its privileged location within the reserve and away from the crowds, together with the experience of our incredible guides and observers, it guarantees the most incredible sightings in almost absolute privacy in the best Big5 territory of all the Maasai Mara.
At Enkewa Camp we offer a variety of activities. Besides tracking the big 5, enjoying masai mara birdlife and its unique and diverse landscapes, we can also access the waterfalls. A hot-air balloon can also be organized and for those interested in the local Masai culture we could visit a traditional Masai village guided by one of our staff members as well as a visit to the local market or the community projects we support.
Bush breakfast/lunches as well as sundowners are also part of our itineraries.
NOTE:
Join Grant Atkinson and a small group of (maximum 8) photographers in August 2023 as they explore the southern Mara National Reserve in Kenya, in search of big cats and other iconic African wildlife species. Whilst we focus our attention on animals like lions, cheetah and spotted hyaena, we will also be on the lookout for elephants, giraffe and many other species like zebra, wildebeest, hartebeest to name a few. Though rarely seen, leopard and black rhino do occur in this part of the reserve.
The Mara’s mix of savannah grasslands, thickets, hillsides, rivers and marshes is home to more than 80 species of mammals. Hippopotamus, Coke’s hartebeest, topi, Thomsons and Grant’s gazelle and Kirk’s dik-dik are just some of the more commonly encountered herbivores. Primates include olive baboon and vervet monkey. Approximately 450 bird species have also been recorded in the Mara and they always add colour to our trips.
Our visit takes place during the time of year that large herds of migratory wildebeest and zebra might visit this part of the Mara. However, the exact timing of the movements of those herds is difficult to predict. However, this has little effect on the resident wildlife, which live year-round in the reserve.
This safari takes place within the Mara National Reserve, so off-road driving may not be possible. On the other hand, there is a very good network of roads which allows for good photographic positioning, and this is aided by the open nature of the terrain.
We use Enkewa camp as our base in the Mara, with its classic East African tented camp style. The tents are built on wooden decks, and have a bright and airy feel with fantastic views. There is solar-sourced power available for charging in each tent which makes it easy to keep camera and laptop batteries well-charged. There is also basic wi-fi available in each tent.
