Introduction

This South African itinerary combines the best of South Africa's nature experiences for all of the senses.

The adventure begins at one of our favorite eco-lodges on the whale coast, Grootbos Forest Lodge with 3 nights in a one bedroom suite.  Visitors between May and December can catch the whale season, as the area offers some of the world's best land based whale watching in addition to the lodge activities included - explore the coastline and nature trails, as you adjust to Africa time.

From there, you will travel on to the Cape Winelands, arguably one of the most beautiful wine regions of the world, as you tour local vineyards and learn about the iconic South African wines as you visit Franschhoek and Stellenbosch.  This area is also a hub for artisan foods.

Enjoy three nights at Babylonstoren Farm Hotel, in a one bedroom cottage.  The itinerary includes a day trip to Cape Town and Table Mountain leaving plenty of time to enjoy the farm property - take a tour of the beautiful gardens, designed in the style of the Company Gardens, where everything is edible (harvest your own delicious veggies, herbs and fruit with the chef for dinner), take a hike or cycle up to the dam or relax in the spa.

Departing the Western Cape, the second half of the itinerary will be spent in Mpumalanga.  Some have called it the most beautiful place in the world. Spend an entire day exploring the majestic natural sights of Mpumalanga’s famous Panorama Route including God’s Window, Bourke’s Luck Potholes, the Three Rondawels and Blyde River Canyon - the third largest canyon of its kind in the world. This is one of the most scenic routes in the region offering magnificent views, dramatic landscapes, exquisite waterfalls and striking gorges.

The journey concludes as you travel to Singita Lebombo's private reserve, within the Greater Kruger national park, where you will spend 3 nights tracking down the Big Five as well as over 40 species of mammal roaming the wilderness. Enjoy the reserve's incredible variety of game, including the Big 5 - lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo - as well as plains game and other predators, such as cheetah and wild dog.  Relax and enjoy the luxury at the lodge or indulge in a cooking class, making memories and treats!
