Gaaf Dhaal Atoll, also known as Southern Huvadhu Atoll or Huvadhu Atholhu Dhekunuburi, is one of two separate atolls making up the south-central administrative region of magical Maldives. Spanning over a vast area, the serene Gaaf Shaal Atoll comprises of over 150 islands, of which only ten are populated. Alongside offering picture-perfect landscapes, many of the islands feature important Buddhist archaeological sites, including one of the most significant pagodas in the Maldives. A true paradise, the region offers excellent fishing, surfing and snorkelling, and charters can be organised to some of its more remote beaches, although certain areas are restricted for tourists.
