Meet your guide for a short walk to the bus station. This is followed by a 30-minute bus ride up to Machu Picchu Citadel (elevation: 8,000 ft. / 2,432 m.s.n.m.). This medium to challenging ascent begins near the guardhouse and climbs steadily up the eastern face of the mountain along a route defined by numerous Inca stone steps and narrow switchbacks. The trail ultimately provides the highest vantage point of the complex, offering an incomparable perspective, looking down over the entire Machu Picchu Citadel, the surrounding significant archaeological features and the vast Andean landscape below.
The entrance to the Machu Picchu Mountain trail is strictly regulated, with two daily entry times available. We will secure the earlier entry time for you, unless requested otherwise.
Please allow up to four hours hiking and up to five hours for the entire experience. | You must show your passport in order to be allowed to enter Machu Picchu Citadel.
