Full Day Cape Winelands Tour ( Includes 3 tasting )

The Cape Winelands tour is an absolute must do! Be swept away by breath-taking vistas and majestic mountain backdrops in a setting steeped in rich culture and history. On this tour you will visit the beautiful Stellenbosch Franschhoek and Paarl. We head to Stellenbosch via the N2 to have our first true experience of South African Wine. The town of Stellenbosch dates back to 1679 and the first vineyards were planted in the same year.  The Stellenbosch Wine Route, world-renowned for its award-winning wines, was founded in 1971, making it the second-oldest wine producing region in South Africa. The Stellenbosch Wine Routes currently provide a coordinated network of more than 177 wineries, each offering a unique cellar-door experience for the wine-lover and tourist. In the heart of Stellenbosch, we visit the highly acclaimed Dylan Lewis Sculpture Garden. Eight years in the making, the Dylan Lewis Sculpture Garden is a place of expansive vistas, scents and the sounds of nature, with tranquil groves, hidden paths and lush indigenous vegetation. Today, the artist continues to explore themes integral to his work in this serene landscape on the slopes of the Stellenbosch Mountains looking out over vineyards towards the ocean. Here, the notion of the untamed wilderness within the human psyche is expressed both in the sculptures and their positioning in the landscape.

We depart from Stellenbosch over the Helshoogte Pass, one of the most loved and travelled roads in the Western Cape, linking Stellenbosch with the Drakenstein Valley, a scenic pass that transports our guests over the saddle that separates Simonsberg from the Jonkershoek Berge and winds its way past fruit farms and vineyards en-route.

Our next stop is the Franschhoek, also regarded as the culinary capital of South Africa. This quaint French inspired village is filled with beautiful street side cafés and eateries. A meander down the main road will forward you the opportunity to explore some of the best galleries and boutiques and a must visit is the De Villiers Chocolate tasting room.

We make our way to the final stop of the tour, Paarl. In 1657, Abraham Gabemma set out from the Cape in search of resources. On his journey he came across a giant granite rock gleaming in the distance. He called this Pearl Mountain, and the town that grew at its base eventually became known as Paarl. Discovering the Paarl wine region is what most visitors do here, and for good reason. The Paarl Wine Route, is known for its full-bodied spicy reds and crisp whites.

With wine tastings at 3 renowned estates in between all our other activities, guests can gain a firm and fond sense of what the Cape Winelands is all about. Where appreciation of our fine wines is paired with nature, history and food. Each tour and wine estate are handpicked, based on guest’s wine preferences and interests.
