Tour Description:

• You’ll begin with a scenic ascent via the cableway, then embark on a guided loop hike to Maclear’s Beacon, the highest point of Table Mountain at 1,086 meters.  Constructed by surveyor Andrew Maclear, this remarkable site features a 19th-century trigonometrical beacon that was used to measure the Earth’s curvature.

• The hike to Maclear’s iconic stone cairn offers stunning views from various vantage points along the route. Our knowledgeable guides will be your walking, talking maps highlighting key landmarks and points of interest throughout Cape Town.

• With our local guides’ in-depth knowledge the mountain comes alive as you explore the captivating history of Cape Town, unravel the mysteries of Table Mountain’s geology, and discover the unique plant and animal species that inhabit its slopes.

• You will be treated to our signature “trailside tea” at a scenic vantage point, where you can recharge with quintessentially South African snacks and choose from a selection of hot beverages in winter or refreshing iced tea (with ice!) in summer.

• The guided loop hike concludes at the Upper Cableway, where you’ll enjoy a scenic descent in the cable car.
