Trip Summary

Get off the beaten track in the region of Elgin which is fast becoming known as the Capes Adventure valley. Start the day with an adrenaline-filled morning Zip Lining in the Hottentots-Holland Mountains. By contrast in the afternoon, we become marine-focused as we follow one of South Africa's most scenic coastal roads on our way to the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley.

Depart Cape Town and you know the adventure is about to begin as you head over the glorious mountain vistas of Sir Lowry’s Pass.

Our morning will be spent in the scenic Elgin Valley. Here we will experience an epic 4-hour Ziplining Adventure in the Hottentots-Holland Mountains. This jagged landscape is an area of outstanding natural beauty, and it’s no wonder that this reserve has attained World Heritage status. Ziplining is an extreme nature-based adventure spanning a series of sturdy platforms suspended over the fynbos-rich Riviersonderend Gorge, linked together with thrilling cable slides. Once you’re safely clipped in, glide like an eagle above this spectacular landscape for hundreds of meters at a time and experience the rush of exploring this once-inaccessible secret for yourself.

Having enjoyed an action-packed adrenalin filled morning, we will continue to Elgin, where you will be able to sit back, relax and enjoy a delicious local lunch at The Barn Restaurant at Old Mac Daddy.

After lunch, we will continue towards the Hemel-en-Aarde valley, we will first explore the area before enjoying a tasting at one of the many unique wine estates in the region. The Hemel-en-Aarde Valley is an escape from the norm of city life and should be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. The experience will leave you feeling refreshed and content. It was once said that “so high are the hills, which closely embrace the valley all around, that they seem to touch the sky and you cannot see anything but Heaven and Earth”.

Exploring the Stony Point Nature Reserve in Betty’s Bay, home to a breeding colony of Penguins, taking time to enjoy their character-filled antics in their natural environment.

We return to Cape Town along the scenic R44 route that hugs the coastline from Walker Bay to False Bay. With a good chance of spotting whales, dolphins, and baboons en route while winding down the day and taking the opportunity to enjoy the vistas of this spectacular coastline.
