This half-day tour of The Elephant Sanctuary Hartbeespoort Dam provides fully guided interactive elephant educational programs covering elephant habits, dynamics, behavior and anatomy and provides a safe haven and “halfway house” for African elephants. The main focus of the sanctuary is to educate visitors about all aspects of elephants and elephant husbandry, with the vision to release elephants into an environment where they can be more independent.
You will be met at your hotel by your tour representative for your close-up encounter with Africa's gentle giants at The Elephant Sanctuary Hartbeespoort Dam, situated in indigenous bushveld of the Magaliesberg Mountains.
Guests are guided on foot through the sanctuary while guides provide in-depth information and insight into the African elephant. You are introduced to the elephants in the forest area where you will be able to touch and interact with them. You will also witness the special relationship the elephant handlers share with their elephants and be invited to become a part of their exchanges. Walk "trunk-in-hand" with the elephants. See the night shelters where the elephant sleep. Learn about elephant anatomy and feed them (included in the price). Your 8am Elephant Experience also includes brushing down the elephants.
Your trip concludes with lunch before returning to your hotel.
