Private Cultural City, Township & Table Mountain Tour – A JOURNEY THROUGH THE HISTORY OF SA
This tour is a must if you want to experience the greatness of Nelson Mandela when he convinced us to rise above the pain and bitterness caused by Colonization and Apartheid and to start the rebuild of our country. The tour starts from the monumental turning point of colonization by the Dutch visiting the Bo-Kaap to the now decaying ruins of Apartheid in District Six, then on to the townships of the new South Africa. On this can’t miss tour you experience eye-opening encounters especially when visiting Langa, the oldest black township where cultural values and personal experiences are exchanged. For groups of 15 and more we include a visit to a school to gain insight into our educational system and be entertained by the choir. (During school terms, except exam times) For smaller groups we offer entertainment by a marimba band or drumming experience.
We end the morning with lunch at Lelapa, the Home of Township Cuisine specialising in traditional township dishes, made with fresh local ingredients and a lot of love. The name Lelapa means “the home” and was established by Mama Sheila and her daughter Monica when they converted their home in order to seize an entrepreneurial opportunity. Sit back and relax while Mama Sheila will delight you with her storytelling over the best township cuisine.
