We have unearthed family-friendly wine estates where family is at the heart of things and little explorers are not only warmly welcomed but allowed to treat the farms as a playground.
The Cape Winelands is home to over 120 Vineyards, each with varying way in which we can explore and learn about how they produce their Grapes. Our day will focus on exploring child friendly estates in a fun and engaging way for both adults and Children.
Starting the day we make our way to Boschendal Wine Estate. The historic Cape vernacular Manor House dates back to 1812, and is home to a premier wine tasting experience. Partake in a wine tasting in the refurbished Manor House where the history and antiques of the house pair beautifully with the estate’s wines. Signature experiences are presented from a private room and include a Historic Tasting of 5 wines representing the history of Boschendal and a Connoisseur Tasting of 5 limited-release wines. The younger children can explore the Tree House or ride on the pump track and enjoy some ball games on the lawns while the teenagers can enjoy mountain bike trails or a light hike with our guide on the farm while the adults enjoy their wine tasting. There is a treat for everyone at Boschendal. Let your inner child out to play when our toy Bag makes its appearance!
She’s fat, friendly and fabulous! Meet Pigcasso - the fine swine who was rescued from the brink of extinction at a South African pig ‘farm’. From pork chop to hog heaven, she loves the sweet things in life: Eat. Sleep. Eat. Repeat. She also loves to paint - and that’s no hogwash! Pigcasso’s primary purpose? To paint a better picture for farm animals. A beautiful farm for the children to interact with the animals and see what farm life is all about.
We continue our morning adventure through the charismatic town of Franschhoek for a gentle stroll to explore this French-inspired town. Uncover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley – picturesque vineyards, breathtaking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines, and a 300-year history.
Sit down to a lovely lunch on a family-friendly wine estate, relax and enjoy some delicious food! To treat yourself after the fun adrenalin of the morning, we will indulge in a chocolate tasting in the heart of Franschhoek at a local chocolatier.
After lunch, your guide will help you choose the best suited wine estate/s for the rest of the afternoon – the options are endless in this beautiful region! Discover estates that are off the beaten track and visit farms that do things a little differently when it comes to their production.
Wind the day down with a gentle stroll in the expansive gardens of Babylonstoren which are steeped in fascinating history. A working farm dating back to 1692, Babylonstoren is a historic Cape Dutch farm that boasts one of the best preserved farmyards in the Cape.
