Trip Summary

Beginning at Sea Level and ending with elevated views of the city, this day focus on exploring the Atlantic Seaboard in a fun and engaging way for children. Following in the footsteps of ‘Stan the Strandloper’ we will take in the city sites before seeing them from a different perspective on the mountain top.

Our morning begins as we make our way up to the top of the Iconic Table Mountain which overlooks the dynamic city of Cape Town.

Your ascending cable car reveals increasingly breath-taking views over the city and an endless sea until you stand atop iconic Table Mountain. Leave the noise behind and hike away from the crowds, keeping watch for wildlife and rare plants - if you can tear your eyes from the vistas. Enjoy the fauna and flora and the breath-taking views on your way to the top and once you reach the peak, take in the 360-degree views while tracking Dassies (Mountain Rock Rabbits) that can often be spotted on the table top. On top of Table Mountain, we will take a short hike away from the crowds whilst our guide brings alive the history of Cape Town combining the elevated view over the city with turn of the century photographs to highlight the changes of the city. Fresh coffee and home baked treats revive the body before we head back down to sea level.

Next, we will make our way down to the Waterfront and visit the award winning Two Oceans aquarium with a tour to see a fascinating and close-up glimpse below the surface of the oceans that surround the South African coastline. Immerse yourself in the enchanting world of the Two Oceans Aquarium where the oceans come alive in magnificent colours and a variety of shapes and sizes. Visitors, both young and old, are introduced to the incredible range of fish and other amazing creatures that call these waters their home. Check when the animal feeding times are, visit the predator exhibit, the astonishing kelp forest and the penguin exhibit. From sharks, to jelly fish, eels, the Knysna seahorse, crabs and a dazzling array of Indian Ocean fish – these enormous tanks contain them all.

Next, we explore the Watershed’s quirky craft, design and township art projects, geared towards community upliftment.

Enjoy a much-deserved lunch at one of Cape Town's local hot spots where the kids can get involved and make their own pizzas and bread!

After lunch, walk the cobbled streets of the Bo-Kaap with its brightly coloured 17th-century houses and (guided by your individual interests) we visit a selection of fascinating historical, artistic or culinary highlights. Touch on politics when you view Parliament and the Company’s Garden or awaken your taste buds with samples from the food artisans in Bree Street. Discover both fine art and street art in Cape Town galleries or perhaps meet trend-setting local fashion designers.

Continue your day as a true local, by making your way to the bustling Sea Point Promenade for an active afternoon along this beautiful coastal promenade. You will have the option to cycle along the promenade on cruiser bicycles should you wish to. There are bicycles of all sizes suitable for the whole family. Explore the 11 art installations that tackle subject ranging from Rhino conservation to the 18 years Nelson Mandela spent on Robben Island. Depending on your energy levels, you will be able to enjoy a gentle cycle along the promenade.

Reward your taste buds with a decadent treat, enjoy a delicious artisanal chocolate and hidden behind the chocolate shop is a cheeky gin bar where adults can enjoy a refreshing concoction!
