This is a day of connection, play, and flavour in the Cape Winelands. Designed for families, this experience blends relaxed wine tasting for the grown-ups with exciting, age-appropriate adventures for the kids. With your African Adventure Guide curating the flow of the day, everyone gets to explore, taste, and enjoy the valley in their own way.

Starting the day we make our way to Boschendal Wine Estate. Sample Boschendal's award-winning wines. Savour every sip in a beautiful setting with wine pairings that celebrate the philosophy of generosity and the best of the farm's local produce. The younger children can explore the Tree House or ride on the pump track and enjoy some ball games on the lawns while the teenagers can enjoy mountain bike trails or a light hike with our guide on the farm while the adults enjoy their wine tasting. There is a treat for everyone at Boschendal. Let your inner child out to play when our toy Bag makes its appearance!
Next, we visit Farm Sanctuary SA, a heartwarming stop and haven for rescued farm animals. Children will love interacting with the animals, learning about ethical farming, and feeding their new furry friends. Meanwhile, adults can enjoy a wine tasting or a light bite at the on-site plant-based café. This is a wholesome, feel-good experience that opens conversations around compassion, sustainability, and mindful living.
Continue your exploration with a gentle stroll through the charming town of Franschhoek, steeped in over 300 years of French Huguenot history. Boutique galleries, artisan shops, and quaint cafés line the streets, set against the backdrop of vine-covered hills. This walk is a chance to slow down and soak up the valley’s unmistakable blend of heritage and elegance.
Settle in at a welcoming wine estate restaurant for a relaxed, family-friendly lunch. Expect flavourful, seasonal cuisine, a beautiful setting, and space for kids to play while the adults unwind.
After lunch, treat your sweet tooth with a visit to a local chocolatier in the heart of Franschhoek. A curated tasting introduces you to the art of small-batch chocolate making, a delight for both kids and adults.
In the afternoon, your guide will recommend and escort you to wine estates suited to your preferences. Whether you're seeking something off the beaten path or farms experimenting with innovative techniques, the Franschhoek Valley offers a wide range of options to explore.
Time allowing, end the day with a peaceful stroll through the expansive Babylonstoren Gardens. Dating back to 1692, this working Cape Dutch farm is one of the best preserved in the region. Its beautifully laid-out edible gardens, orchards, and water features are a joy to explore, offering a moment of calm to close the day.
This day is entirely customisable. Whether you're travelling with toddlers, teens, or multigenerational family groups, your African Adventure Guide will personalise the pace, stops, and experiences to suit your group’s interests and energy levels. Expect a blend of exploration, taste, play, and memorable moments.
