Trip Summary

Today you will enjoy the fascinating Andean landscapes around the Guagua Pichincha volcano.

We will pass by the picturesque town of Lloa, in the middle of green fields with pastures and crops, and then go up with our transport to the Guagua Pichincha Refuge and will follow a hiking route that goes up to the crater edge and later to the main summit. Then we will hike down to the secondary crater bottom to be able to observe closely the fumaroles and volcanic domes with an almost lunar landscape.

This will probably be the best opportunity you might have to contemplate the volcano magnificence, with its crater and fumaroles expelling water vapor most of time.
