We will leave the hotel in the morning and we traverse the Patagonian steppe along "El Camino a las estancias", an ancient path that connects us with the traditional Patagonian culture. We arrive at Lago Roca (one of the best-kept secrets in Patagonia) and will continue to Estancia Nibepo Aike, a pioneer in El Calafate.

Once at the estancia, we will enjoy a sheep shearing demonstration and gaucho skills. Then, we will taste a delicious traditional lunch with salads, Patagonian lamb, excellent wines and dessert.
After lunch, we will navigate the Sur and Rico tributaries of the Argentino Lake for an hour or so until we reach Playa de las Monedas, a beach where we will disembark and enjoy a nice walk in the Southern beech forest (Lenga forest). After this refreshing stroll, we start a last navigation to reach the impressive Perito Moreno glacier. We leave the boat at the catwalks (with perfect timing as only a few tourists are around!) to be amazed at the huge chunk of ice calving thunderously into the lake. After spending about one hour at the catwalks we return to El Calafate.
Itinerary:
09:30 am: pick up hotels in El Calafate.
02:00 pm: start of the navigation from Los Pioneros pier.
04:00 pm: disembarkation at Bajo las Sombras.
07:30 pm: arrival in El Calafate (those returning by boat to Nibepo Aike arrive around 06:15 pm at the South Glacier pier).

This tour operates from October, 1st to April 30th.
Level of difficulty: easy- No age restrictions. Those who cannot or do not wish to walk can stay on board and reach the glacier viewpoint with the boat.
Sample lunch menu: roast lamb, variety of salads, dessert, soft drinks and wine. Vegetarian option (lentil and vegetable stew).
Departures on December,25th and January 1,st: departure and return to Calafate 1 hour later. No shearing or lamb lunch. Box-lunch is provided.
