Trip Summary

Lake Naivasha is a beautiful freshwater lake, fringed by thick papyrus. The lake is almost 13kms across, but its waters are shallow with an average depth of five metres. Lake area varies greatly according to rainfall, with an average range between 114 and 991 sq kms. At the beginning of the 20th Century, Naivasha completely dried up and effectively disappeared. The resulting open land was farmed, until heavy rains a few years later caused the lake to return to existence, swallowing up the newly established estates.

Afternoon wind and storms can cause the Lake to become suddenly rough and produce high waves. For this reason, the local Maasai christened the lake Nai’posha meaning ‘rough water’. The lake and its surroundings are rich in natural bounty, and the fertile soils and water supply have made this one of Kenya’s prime agricultural regions. Much of the lake is surrounded by forests of the yellow barked Acacia Xanthophlea, known as the yellow fever tree.

0630 Hrs: Met and briefed by our representative and Depart for Naivasha

0700 Hrs: Great Rift Valley View Point The Great Rift Valley is a continuous geographic trench that runs 6000 km from Syria to the border of Malawi/Mozambique. The lakes along the eastern part of Africa were formed as the result of the rift and contain some of the largest and deepest freshwater lakes in the world.

0730 Hrs: Hells gate Game Drive. The park is full of herbivores, and there are bird-watching opportunities galore. Combine that with hot springs, spectacular cliffs, and gorges, and you'll have hours and hours’ worth of amazing African-ness to explore. Hells gate National Park offers a rewarding experience for both novice and expert cyclists. As you cycle, you’ll get to view one of the most magnificent sceneries in Africa as you embark on this invigorating experience.

1200 Hrs: Lunch at the Sanctuary farm Within a private 400 - acre conservancy and dairy farm, this beautiful place makes the perfect weekend escape from Nairobi. The rooms are stylish, high - quality and elegant, and there's access to a cozy Wi - Fi lounge/library

1400 Hrs: Crescent Island Boat ride and Walking Safari. The shores host abundant birdlife especially huge numbers of pelicans, cormorants and fish - eagles with their haunting cry. There are more animals per acre than any other Kenyan Park; hence many film companies have been to the Island to film the herds of Wildebeest , Waterbuck, Zebra and Gazelle. We are not fenced to allow the wildlife on the mainland to come in as they lose their habitat to development and the ever increasing population
