At Africamps Oakhurst there is no shortage of healthy outdoor fun to keep you and your kids busy. Tents overlook grassy fields, where our dairy cows might make their appearance. Try your luck at a spot of fishing or take out one of the canoes on our large farm dam close to the dairy. Soak up the views of the Outeniqua mountains in the distance from your private outdoor wood-fired hot tub, next to each tent. It’s the purest form of relaxation, while taking in the beautiful surroundings. On hot summer days, use the tub as a splash pool! Kilometres of well-maintained single track through the forest is ideal for mountain biking or trail running and the farm’s majestic waterfall makes for an adventurous forest hike. The kids can visit Oakhurst Dairy to watch cows being milked and calves being fed in their feeding camps either early morning or afternoon.

AfriCamps tents consist of a spacious open plan lounge area with a comfortable couch and a fully equipped kitchen. The dining room area has a solid wooden table with enough seating for 5 people. For winter months the fireplace will be the perfect way to warm up the tent, bringing in an intimate setting for you and your love ones. Both bedrooms are furnished with a queen size bed and have their own private entrance which allows maximum privacy. One of the bedrooms also contains an extra single bunk bed, so the tent will comfortably sleep a family of 5. Our tents are equipped with an air conditioning unit to keep you cool during those hot summer nights and a private bathroom with a hot shower cabin, washbasin and flushing toilet. Three of the tents now offer a private wood-fired hot tub where you can take in the breathtaking view while listening to the crackle of fire under the African sky. A wood-fired hot tub is the purest form of relaxation and enjoying the outdoors, ideal for those starry winter nights. With all the comfort of a permanent structure – proper furniture, bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a solid wooden floor – they still preserve the romance and atmosphere of staying in a tent.

Wood-fired Hot Tubs 
All eight tents offer the exclusive use of their own outdoor wood-fired hot tub. The best way to soak up the views of the Outeniqua mountains in the distance. It’s the purest form of relaxation, while taking in the beautiful surroundings. On hot summer days, use the tub as a splash pool!

Horse riding
Enjoy a guided 1 hour 20 minute walk through the indigenous forest, with a guide. Pony rides are available for the kids.

Guided formal dairy tour
Did you know the milk from Oakhurst is used in Steri Stumpies – SA’s favourite milkshake? Join the dairy for an in-depth look into the farm’s thriving dairy business. This hour-long tour provides a thorough introduction to modern dairy farming.

Mountain Bike and Trail Running Tracks
Use the pipe track and/or beautiful tracks through the indigenous forest for a walk, run or cycle.
Mountain Bikes and Kids bikes are available to hire

Arrange one of the following massages 48 hours before arrival to enjoy in the comfort of your tent:

Bird-watching: Birdlife is abundant on the farm. Keep an eye out for the famous Knysna Turaco only found in these parts. 
Visit the big swing, treehouse or jungle gym on other parts of the farm.
