Trip Summary

The Cape Winelands is home to over 120 Vineyards, each with varying way in which we can explore and learn about how they produce their Grapes. Our day will focus on exploring child friendly estates in a fun and engaging way for both adults and children.

Our morning begins as we leave Cape Town in our Adventure Utility Vehicle (AUV) and take the scenic route into the winelands for our day of fun play, taste and exploration which awaits!

Experience the unexpected – to get our morning off to an exciting start, we will hop onto free wheeling bikes for a Scootouring adventure down the lower Franschhoek Pass trails while taking in the 360 views across the Winelands. During the tour you will experience the beauty of these alpine-like mountains surrounding Franschhoek in a fun and active way. Stunning views, majestic mountains and endless downhill slopes is what Scootours is all about. Scooters are non-motorized making this Eco-friendly. The scooters are propelled by gravity and our vehicle takes you to the top of the runs. These Swiss-designed, non-motorized push bikes are used in the Alps during the summer season on the ski slopes when the snow is gone. All trips are guided by professional qualified guides. This activity is a sure hit amongst children and adults of all ages! a Great laugh for the whole family.

After an active morning we visit one of the smaller, boutique and family-owned wine estates for a more intimate wine tasting. Jacoline Haasbroek from My Wyn Wine Estate in Franschhoek manages her own cellar and wine tasting in her home overlooking the Franschhoek Valley. My Wyn does not have its own vineyards but instead buys in grapes from the same suppliers each year and Jacoline makes her own wine. Jacoline has won an award as one of the top 3 blends for her My Wyn Cabernet Franc 2015. Sit on her veranda and enjoy a personal wine tasting and great hospitality with Jacoline, afterwards there is the option of taking a walk to the nearby waterfall on her farm.

We continue our morning adventure through the charismatic town of Franschhoek for a gentle stroll to explore this French inspired town. Uncover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley – picturesque vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300-year history. Here we will sit down for a fine dining lunch at one of Franschhoek's many picturesque wine estates.

To treat yourself after the fun adrenalin of the morning, we will indulge in a chocolate tasting in the heart of Franschhoek at a local chocolatier.

Next we make our way to Boschendal Wine Estate. The historic Cape vernacular Manor House dates back to 1812, and is home to a premier wine tasting experience. Partake in a wine tasting in the refurbished Manor House where the history and antiques of the house pair beautifully with the estate’s wines. Signature experiences are presented from a private room and include a Historic Tasting of 5 wines representing the history of Boschendal and a Connoisseur Tasting of 5 limited release wines. Th children can explore the Tree House or ride on the pump track and enjoy some ball games on the lawns while the adults enjoy their wine tasting. There is a treat for everyone at Boschendal. Let your inner child out to play when our toy Bag makes its appearance!

Time allowing, we make our way to the expansive gardens of Babylonstoren which are steeped in fascinating history. A working farm dating back to 1692, Babylonstoren is a historic Cape Dutch farm that boasts one of the best preserved farmyards in the Cape. Here the adults can enjoy a wine tasting while the children enjoy playing in the gardens, our guide has a toy bag filled with fun things for the children to do.
