Trip Summary

The aim of the day is to explore the highlights of the Cape Peninsula, looking for any excuse to explore the wild peninsula beaches and embrace one of the most unique marine habitats in the world. We’ll do this a little differently than the usual quick zip past the crowded tourist spots, and instead take a series of short hikes to get the best of this beautiful region.

We will head out of Cape Town along the Atlantic Seaboard while enjoying a Side-Car Transfer, the most exciting and adventurous way to travel from Cape Town through to Noordhoek passing through Hout Bay and over the scenic coastal toll road of Chapman’s Peak Drive. We will end the Side Car Tour in the Noordhoek Farm Village where we will meet the Escape+Explore Adventure Utility Vehicle before continuing onto the peninsula reserve. Here we will enjoy a gentle hike exploring secluded beaches, shipwrecks and this region’s unique wildlife while on the hunt for the Cape 5 (Ostrich, Baboons, Mountain Zebra, Bontebok and Tortoise). We will enjoy a Wild Gourmet Picnic Lunch in a sheltered and secluded cover before continuing to Simon’s Town to search for our own rogue penguins – a splinter colony far from the crowded boardwalks over the main breeding site, on a secret beach known only to locals. Your guide will tell you more about the rich history surrounding this naval town, the museums and monuments provide plenty of insight into this historical harbour town. We will continue to Kalk Bay best known for its working fishing harbour and bohemian feel. Browse the arts and crafts on offer, perhaps do a bit of shopping in the quirky fashion boutiques and enjoy the antiques and collectables along the main strip. Finish up with a short hike up into the mountains above the village to explore the Milkwood forests with its delightful fairyland atmosphere.

The return journey weaves back to Cape Town via Noordhoek, stopping for some superb wine tasting at Cape Point Vineyards, producer of some of South Africa’s finest Sauvignon Blanc and home to one of the most picturesque Sunset Views looking out towards Kommetjie and the Atlantic Ocean.
