Trip Summary

The Winelands are overflowing with vineyards, each producing unique wines with a range of flavours and tastes. One thing that’s often overlooked during a fleeting visit is the variety of ways one may explore the area while learning about a range of wine producing techniques. In addition to all the beautiful and unique vineyards, the great outdoors awaits you with lots of exciting activities for you to partake in.

There is no better way to really immerse yourself in a destination, than to exit the vehicle and to explore the great outdoors. The winelands offer incredible scenic valleys, expansive vineyards and beautiful mountain ranges.

Experience the unexpected – to get our morning off to an exciting start, we will hop onto free-wheeling bikes for a Scootouring adventure down the gentle slopes of Chamonix Wine Farm and enjoy breath taking views over the Franschhoek Valley.  During the tour, you will experience the beauty of these alpine-like mountains surrounding Franschhoek in a fun and active way. Stunning views, majestic mountains, and endless downhill slopes are what Scootours is all about. Scooters are non-motorized making this Eco-friendly. The scooters are propelled by gravity and our vehicle takes you to the top of the runs. These Swiss-designed, non-motorized push bikes are used in the Alps during the summer season on the ski slopes when the snow is gone. All trips are guided by professional qualified guides. This activity is a sure hit amongst children and adults of all ages!

From here, we will continue our morning adventure at Le Lude’s custom-built winery is one of the few cellars in South Africa exclusively used for making Cap Classique. The Le Lude tasting room aims to welcome visitors in an aesthetic environment as tasteful and stylish as their range of Cap Classique wines. The inspiration speaks of the best of contemporary French, using light and space to create a friendly, hospitable area with soft green paneling.

We then explore the charming town of Franschhoek with its French Huguenot origins and learn about the fascinating development of wine in the region. Here we will sit down for a fine dining lunch at one of Franschhoek's many picturesque wine estates.

Uncover the true essence of the Franschhoek Valley – picturesque vineyards, breath-taking scenery, warm hospitality, world-class cuisine, fine wines and a 300-year history. To treat yourself after the fun morning, we will indulge in a chocolate tasting in the heart of Franschhoek at a local chocolatier.

This afternoon, we will indulge in another wine tasting in the afternoon at Muratie Wine Estate. Muratie's rich history is captured in every nook and cranny. Wherever you are on the estate you cannot help being moved by a sense of the many generations that have Lived and worked on this estate.
