Highlights

•Catch a glimpse of False Bay’s whales with the opportunity of seeing dolphins and great white shark.

•Lunch at an a la carte coastal restaurant

•Visit the African Penguin colony at Boulders Beach.

•Spot wildlife in the Table Mountain National Park, and explore the rocky coastline, the Cape fynbos vegetation and the south-westernmost point of Africa – Cape Point – and its lighthouse.

•Travel through many famous coastal suburbs of the Cape and traverse one of the world’s most spectacular passes – Chapman’s Peak.

Depart the city for Simonstown harbour to board a 32-foot catamaran. Our two-hour trip not only takes in the wonderful sights of the Cape from the ocean but offers you the chance of seeing magnificent creatures of the sea. Excellent whale sightings are possible as the boat is allowed within 50 metres of these giants of the deep. From June to November you can expect to see southern right whales, which come to the Cape to mate and calve. Humpback, Bryde’s, minke and sei whales are seen throughout the year, along with bottlenose dolphins. We return to port for lunch and a visit to beautiful Boulders Beach to see the African Penguin colony. We continue onwards into the Cape of Good Hope section of the Table Mountain National Park, home to fabulous birds and very special fauna including Cape mountain zebra, bontebok and the charismatic Cape baboon. Climb (or ride the world’s first environmentally friendly funicular) to the famous Cape Point Lighthouse to capture the staggering vistas of False Bay and stop at the south-westernmost point of Africa, breath-taking Cape Point. We head homewards on the Atlantic seaboard, past the beaches of Noordhoek and over 600m-high Chapman’s Peak Drive through the fishing village of Hout Bay and past Llandudno and Bakoven (with their ghostly shipwrecks), the towering Twelve Apostles, and on through Camps Bay and Bantry Bay.

NB: Whale Boat departure schedules (subject to change) are 10:30am and 14h00pm.
