Trip Summary

Today’s adventure is all about embracing the ocean and wild beauty of the Cape Peninsula,  one of the most biodiverse and breathtaking coastal habitats in the world. We'll follow the rhythm of the waves, soaking up the salt air and chasing the day’s best swells, stories, and scenery.

Let the aroma of the best coffee in Muizenberg, gear you up for the waves awaiting you! The early morning will be spent in Muizenberg where we will enjoy a tour of WAWA surfboard Shop in Muizenberg, here they build wooden surfboards that are inspired by the intuited hydronamic genius of the ancient Hawaiian board builders. Handcrafted, Wawa boards allow for a wave-sliding experience that, until recently, lay buried in the dust of museums.

The morning will be spent in Muizenberg where we will spend our time enjoying a surf lesson, the best place to get to grips with riding the waves in South Africa under the guidance of your Adventure Guide before chasing the swell around the peninsula. You will don a wetsuit, get all geared up and by the end of the morning, you will be a pro on the waves amongst all the locals!

From here, we will drive along the coast towards Simon’s Town, where we will search for our own rogue penguins – a splinter colony away from the crowded boardwalks over the main breeding site, on a beach known mostly to locals. Perhaps if the weather is favourable you could test out your balancing skills on a stand-up paddle board to really get to know the penguins in their own environment. (This is optional). Your guide will tell you more about the rich history surrounding this naval town, the museums and monuments provide plenty of insight into this historical harbour town.

Onto the legendary Cape of Good Hope, we'll indulge in a gentle hike through the Peninsula Reserve, discovering secluded beaches and shipwrecks amidst the unique wildlife. As we hunt for the Cape 5 - Ostrich, Baboons, Mountain Zebra, Bontebok, and Tortoise - a secluded spot awaits us, where a delicious gourmet picnic unfolds in a breathtaking setting.

Time Allowing: We might visit Kommetjie, the epicenter of high-performance surfing on the Cape Peninsula. It offers ideal conditions for surfers of all ages and abilities, with various beach breaks, points, and reefs. Facing Chapman’s Peak on a promontory at the south end of Noordhoek Beach, this spot benefits from offshore southwest winds, making it one of the few places that can handle this wind. The waves here are clean and left-breaking, running for 40-60 meters before ending in a shore break close-out

Wind the afternoon down by heading back towards the city centre along the most scenic drive of all: Chapman's Peak. Stop at a magical surprise location for an early evening drink as a local.
