Go on a journey into a previously inaccessible realm of nature, as you traverse the upper level of indigenous forest and ancient mountain cliffs, overlooking the spectacular Groot Letaba River gorge. The tour includes awe-inspiring slides and platform viewpoints over three giant waterfalls, each tumbling up to 20 metres into the sparkling river below. Relax and absorb the tranquility of your natural surroundings on each platform as trained guides detail interesting facts about the fauna, flora and ecology of the surrounding environment.

The Letaba River gorge is home to a wide variety of plant, animal and birdlife. The assortment of colorful wildflowers and orchids draping the surrounding cliffs are sure to catch your attention, and remember to keep an eye out for the Giant Kingfisher which regularly swoops over the river below.

Come closer!  That’s what the name Zwakala means and that’s the convivial African spirit behind Magoebaskloof’s first micro-brewery – Zwakala Brewery. Nestled in the Magoebaskloof Mountains, our location is as much its signature as its award winning beers and our Blueberry Gin and Tonic on Tap.

This charming brewery has enormous windows that overlook the mountains and can be described as the most scenic venue on the mountain. Food options include gourmet burgers, tapas & artisanal deserts. We love using fresh & local produce so expect fresh and tasty meals.

The brewery is perfect for kids as there is a kiddies play area with a jungle gym and swings. Our outdoor games that are laid out on the lawn are also popular with the kids!

Last but not least, our beer. Each batch of beer is handcrafted, nothing unnatural is used in the brewing process – and the most important ingredient is the clear and pure mountain water drawn from the Letaba River.
