The Winelands are overflowing with vineyards, each producing unique wines with a range of flavours and tastes. One thing that’s often overlooked during a fleeting visit is the variety of ways one may explore the area while learning about a range of wine producing techniques.
In addition to all the beautiful and unique vineyards, the great outdoors awaits you with lots of exciting activities for you to partake in.
There is no better way to really immerse yourself in a destination, than to exit the vehicle and to explore the great outdoors. The winelands offer incredible scenic valleys, expansive vineyards and beautiful mountain ranges.
To start your day off you will then head to the Franschhoek valley to stretch your legs. Here you can choose whether you wish to go for a hike along the Uitkyk Trail or if you would like to enjoy some gentle mountain biking in the valley. Both these activities will allow you to immerse yourself in the valleys fauna and flora.
For lunch, you will head out of the Franschhoek valley to the Warwick Wine Estate for a delicious gourmet picnic in a relaxed setting overlooking a small dam. Also enjoy a glass of this estates award wining wines to accompany your meal.
After lunch, we will head off to a boutique family run wine estate in the afternoon, where a female wine marker will take you through the process while indulging in some local cheeses. Your guide will help you choose the best suited wine estates for the rest of the afternoon – our preferred option (time allowing): DeMorgenzon Estate, with its quirky practice of piping Baroque music across the vineyards to help with the growing process.
